Continues to amaze me how cheap it is for those U16.

I guess in alot of cases parents pay anyway, and would it make that much difference to attendances if it was £2-3 or £1.

I doubt whether the U16 buy programmes and refreshments either so no extra revenue from here

Probably 15% of crowd are U16,so say 100 per game.

If we play 25 home games,if price was £3 that would bring in an extra £5000.

It all counts.

Again, i would not think the difference between £1 or £3 would affect the attendance ,and you would still be encouraging U16 to attend, without getting the unruly ones who are happy on occasions pay £1 just for somewhere to go, and occasionally create a nuisance.

Maybe it should have been £3 unaccompanied and £2 if accompanied by an adult

Charlton kept child prices very low when they returned to the Valley. The effect that this has had is they now have a good growing fan base (many of the original U16's are abovethat age and paying the full price). Get the habit whilst someone is young and you never know they may still be going when they reach my age.

PS I cannot wait until I can get the OAP price in 10 years time.

I can't comment on how many of the U16's buy programmes but I can tell you that in the teabar a fair chunk of our takings is from those U16's, buying sweets, chocolate bars, fizzy drinks etc.

More reason now for certain people to stay at home at listen in to the "live" commentary. Another barrier in the way of the "target 1000". Maybe a lower figure of 750 would now be more of a realistic target.

Prices are fine with me. It brings us up to the average level for this division and you have to pay the wages somehow. No good losing money hand over fist but getting good crowds on rock bottom prices. Some people might say we are charged more now than when we were a Conference club. Conference teams are charging £13 and upwards these days.

And some are ripping of the people by doing so. I too have no problem with it personally as I will go even if the price were to rise even higher but its a worry that some, who might possibly be toying with the idea of coming may now see this as just another reason NOT to attend in person & stay at home and listen. The home "live" commentary really should have a small registration fee attached to it as this could well counter balance things a little. If we are happy to pay an extra quid to get in then we should be more than willing to contribute toward the "live" matchday commentary too.

We do have to pay wages etc,I am not denying that but we should be encouraging & tempting people to attend rather than make it easier for them to stay away.We still need these people to attend games whether it be at £8 or £9,its still money lost & there will be some that will stay away & use this as an excuse.

What has been decided has been decided anyway so thats that.

I'd rather have 1000 people there at £8 a head than to have 800 there at £9 a head. An increase if you work it out,the more that attend the more profit & the more taken INSIDE the ground too not to mention the extra encouragement that can be forthcoming for the team.

I am just mentioning some ways that it could prove disadvantageous to do this & I am just joining in this debate from another viewpoint.

I for one am more than willing to go along and pay that extra £1. Lets hope other temporary followers will understand the situation too & the reasons for the increase.

Just one more thing,I really do think O.A.Ps prices should have been be left at a "fiver". Some elderley just cant afford it.

I’m surprised this has come up again given the previous explanation provided, but then again, I’m not. The club has priced tickets in the full knowledge of the live commentary service and can at the drop of a hat withdraw the service if it chooses. But I am not aware of this being considered. We have also considered a charge for the service but to set up a formal “pay per listen” takes time, effort and money in its own right and we do not believe will raise a significant enough sum to warrant the effort. There is of course the option for listeners to contribute to the service by making a donation through the Pay Pal system (see the button on the Matchday Live page) and I would encourage everyone who uses it to do so. This is of course a valuable service to those that can’t get to the ground and it is nowhere near as good as being at the ground (ouch that hurt!). It does however demonstrate the club’s commitment to develop a range of services for fans, including those supported by technology. The Gate Chat programme is another example. Awareness of our audio services also serves to promote the club and as the services grow in popularity; my expectation is that we will look at the revenue generating opportunities they represent. We do monitor listener numbers in consideration of these opportunities. Please be assured that these ideas are not developed and implemented in splendid isolation and are constantly monitored. Why not think of it as an example of an investment the club is making to raise its profile. I hope this goes some way to allay fears about the impact of the audio service on the club.

I see what you are saying the whole of Thanet are going to get another job to earn that extra pound to go to matches. The thing is about people in Thanet especially with supporting football if it is worth it they would pay it and if we are playing well then people will pay that extra pound.

I think Gringo makes a good point, in that whilst nothing is for certain, fans are being asked to pay £1 more for what should on most occasions be better quality football, and even more important, better results we all hope
