Referees.

Recommended Posts

Here is my view on things. I referee at a level that I have played at (only a little) and watched for 20 years. I know how the game is played at that level and understand the players so I hope that I referee and line quite well. If you apply that at the top level then we need ex professionals refereeing. Why dont they because they know the abuse the refs get and are not big enough to take it.

I know some good refs who have given up because of the abuse. The more abuse the players give out the more refs will pack up and you will get referees officiating at a level they are no good at. That is fact.

You guys play at a certain level but expect referees to be of a premiership level and not at the level you are playing at. When a player calls me [****!!****] I will usually respond with "Why do you think I am doing this game" Refs make mistakes but players make more.

Stop cheating. this includes appealing for throws that you know damn well isn't yours. When the ref gives a decision dont abuse them. If one of your players makes a mistake you dont rush up to him sitck your face in his and abuse him. Why do it with a ref then.

Just some points from me and I look forward to the questions that will follow and I will endeavour to answer them !

Krooner to be fair to you, You seem like one of the refs you could have a laugh with on the pitch but in truth there aren't many you can do that with!

Refs have a hard job to do on the spot decisions and all that and no one expects you to get them right but most refs have a stinking attitude and maybe some of that is down to players but they should set the example not by booking and sending off players!

Me personally i dont get up in ref's faces i think thats wrong i appeal for throws that i know aren't mine due to the fact that sometimes you get them if appeal loudly and convincingly enough!

Ex players should ref but to be honest most ex players would rather get into coaching or open a night club or pub!

I think most players can accept a mistake it's just the baffling decisions and not being able to express a view without getting a talk to the hand and ignored!

I disagree with most. There are some about but players are a lot worse.

I gave a penalty in a cup semi final this season against a goalkeeper I know. He had a right go at me because he said I got it wrong. I spoke to him in the bar afterwards and gave him my view and he just shrugged his shoulders. I saw him in a town centre about a month later and when I went to speak to him he just turned his back and walked off. I have known him for years. Who had the shocking attitude.

That is a one of Kroon dog! I would never hold it personally against a ref! Since playing Youth team football i have come accross the same ref year in year out and when ever he sees me he knows he is in for a hard game but he laughs and jokes about it! he gets decisions wrong i hold no grudges!

All your example shows is the keeper was a prick anyway! well done for giving the pen!

I admit that I do everything I can to get an advantage in a game! I need to! If a player has a chain or earrings in I'll have a word with the ref to get him off the pitch for a couple of minutes!!!

Theres a difference between cheating & bending the rules.

At the end of the day its ur decision for throw in's, corners etc..

Agree but by appealing for something that you know isnt yours is cheating.

i have come across refs that have given some shocking decisions, but when u speak to them about it later on in the game, they say "ok i may have got it worng" fair play, i can handle that! its when u question it without shouting or swearing and r told "shut up and go away" if someone said that to u in the street they would get a punch, so y say it on the pitch? coz they know if we hit em, our careers r finished!

They shouldnt be like that. It would depend on how many times you had queried decisions. If it is about the 10th time he is probably bored of your voice !
