Keeling signs

Recommended Posts

As Dave Holden and Tracy Richardson are on holiday, Roly Edwards thought you might like to know the following:

Liam Daish has added more experience to his squad by signing former Canvey Island forward John Keeling.

Keeling, aged 30, joined Canvey in 2004 from Hornchurch, and as well as previously playing for Tilbury and Thurrock, also appeared for the England National XI against Belgium in 2003.

“John’s an exciting player” said Daish. “He can play in midfield or attack and will add a dimension to our play which has been missing.”

======================================================================

As supporters of Conference National clubs wait for 2006/2007 fixtures to be announced, the league has advised clubs that due to a number of logistical difficulties, Christmas and New Year's fixtures could take on a new look next season.

The Conference has told clubs that, due to a number of key factors, most of which are beyond their control, it will not be possible to provide REVERSE FIXTURES on BOXING DAY (26 December 2006) and NEW YEARS DAY (1 January 2007).

They are attempting to meet as many Club HOME preferences as possible on either 26 & 30 December 2006 or 1 January 2007.

Fixtures over this period will still be local but are unlikely to be with the 1st Choice requested on the forms returned this season.

Conference National fixtures are currently scheduled for distribution during the first week of July.

Keeling is a really good signing.

strange how last year all we could sign were left backs, no strikers & played crap football.

Now we appear to be getting a lot of attacking midfielders and strikers.

It's almost as if LD has taken on board the fan's wishes from last season.

Oddly, we still need a couple of full backs.

A great signing for Gravesend, and I'm sure he needs no introduction.

One thing though, that I've also mentioned on the Canvey forum... Has Keeling finally hung up his wellies to go full-time with you lot? I didn't think Daish would sign part-timers?

I reckon you're right BG. In temrs of a starting XI with Conference experience, we're only two or three players short, but we'll need a few back-ups to fill the squad too (another striker too hopefully).

Hawkins

R. Smith

J. Smith / McCarthy

Quinn

Slatter

A forward for sure.as I stated earlier someone with a bit of height to partner Charlie. It sounds that neither Ekoku or Keeling have great height about them, and are predominantly wingers or wide players to say the least. If thats the case we need a target man.

Good signing for you guys. Sad to see him go.

Yep he's fairly small but has a turn of speed like [****!!****] off a shovel. I've seen him run rings around some big ol' conference defenders. He actually makes the game exciting and gives you width on the pitch but doesn't mind cutting in or laying the ball off.

I also guarantee that he'll give you 100% and even when he's not getting the better of the defender he won't give up.

We definately have a more attacking look to the side already.

There might be any number of reasons for this.

I would like to think that LD has realised we need to recover ther ground we lost last year, both on the pitch and in terms of support.

To do this, attacking open play and less route one is a very good start.

Hopefully, we can fill the 5/6 gaps in the squads before the pre season games.
