Well, just you listen to this. I have received an E-mail overnight from one of "our boys" who, at great personal sacrifice, is doing his stuff for Queen and country at Baden-Baden-Baden!!

 

No. Not the paper boy or Joe 'right-peg' Cole. One of our own! Ian Ridley. It's fairly brief, but grammatically perfect, as you would imagine, and it confirms that the Luton fixture is ON. Do your stuff, Webbo.

Unfortunately he didn't mention whether one or two of the journos from the better quality newspapers have spotted that Joe Cole doesn't have a cultured left foot. I should suggest to him that they should get Simon Barnes to make that point to the mad Swede. And it occurred to me last night that he should give Owen Hargreaves a run-out in goal. Either that or they should pull in Jose or the Liverpool bloke, on secondment temporarily, to explain to the lad the contribution that Makelele and Alonzo make to Lampard and Gerrard's greatness.

 

Has anyone else noticed that Hargreaves bears a striking resemblance to Sven, by the way? I wonder if they are related?

 

I should have told Ian that you can get 7/1 for an Ecuador win over here. It's probably the other way round in Germany.

The BIGGIE is North Greenford United. The crowd watching their 03/04 Premier Challenge Cup Final was 3,722. Not many other non-league clubs could get an attendance like that.
