Mr Zeal, sentiments echoed, only truly dead to the deaf or ignorant. R.I.P. Everyone has a favourite song all are valid, in one way by the variety produced he pleased a lot of people and will continue to do so.

Mad, Bob Dylan is no twat! He is, in fact, a musical genius. After all, it wasn't drugs that killed Lennon it was an eejit called Mark Chapman who shot him. I'm not sure but I do believe Dylan introduced The Beatles to weed (is this right Zeal?) and it's not as if that was ever gonna kill him although as I understand it Lennon later experimented with Heroin(I'm not 100% on that-apologies if it's wrong) and of course LSD. But who's to say that in the climate of the 60s/70s he wouldn't have discovered them without Dylan. Mad, you should listen to some Dylan, try his greatest hits album as a starting point. And while you're at it buy some Neil Young.

 

Talking of Dylan, last night on Virgin radio he was mentioned on a tribute programme to Johnny Cash which was surprisingly excellent. Anyone else like old Johnny boy?

I was watching a programme about the Beatles and Dylan did introduce them to such substances.

You're absolutely right, MAD. It was around 1964/65. They met him and he introduced them, and Lennon in particular, to marijuana.

 

Before that, they were only into pills. In 1966, Lennon's dentist introduced him and George Harrison to LSD by putting some in their tea!

 

By 1968, Yoko Ono had introduced her husband-to-be to smoking heroin. He never injected it.

If you ever read Kenny Everret's autobiography "The custard stops at Hatfield" you will find a passage where he describes an episode at G.H's mansion and around the golf course whilst stoned.
