MK Dons are suffering - Fan action has desired effect!

Recommended Posts

MK Dons are struggling to arrange pre-season friendly matches. This is really good news and the fans of Ipswich Town and Colchester United should be praised.

Ipswich Town initially arranged the first fixture. As soon as the Town fans got to hear about the game, they put pressure on the ITFC board to cancel it. The club did the honourable thing and withdrew their offer to send a team. MK Dons then made arrangements with Colchester United as a replacement for the date in their pre-season diary. Once again, fan pressure on the CUFC board took effect and they too cancelled the fixture.

Well done to the fans of the U's and the Town. Now it's up to Histon FC to carry the mantle of fan power by requesting that they too withdraw from the latest fixture to be fitted into the MK Dons diary.

I hope that the Histon fixture will be cancelled and I hope that MK Dons will have to end their search for a pre-season fixture by approaching local pub teams!

I only hope that if they approached Enfield Town we would tell them where to go.

'MK Don't!'

The rumour round here is that later this week MK Dons will announce Mike Dove as their new first team manager. Dove's previous job before becoming head of MK Dons youth academy was working for MK Council as some sort of sport development officer. He has never played in the Football League, actually I'm not sure if he's even played in local South Midlands League football.

This was taken from the Histon website - great news I think you'll agree?!:

Following a board meeting of the Histon Football Club last night

the decision to cancel the pre season fixture against MK Dons was reached.

Histon Football Club would like to thank all those fans who expressed their views on the fixture.

The club are now looking into alternative opponents for the date of July 15th.

But his slogan was "Power to the People"

He clearly was a splitter as the people have power when they are united.

A classic Trot, then! Perpetually splitting and slagging off their former comrades. Tiresome. Monty Python got it right in Life of Brian with the Judean Popular Front spoof of the revolutionary left - perfect observation!

Still, slogans aside, this news is encouraging for those of us who believe in fan power. Power to the Towners, etc. Solidarity!

It just gets better and better. This was taken from the Official QPR website:

Gianni Paladini (QPR Chairman) would like to make the following statement, after making the decision to cancel the game against MK Dons on July 15.

"After several phonecalls and threats from our own supporters, I have decided not to go ahead with the game".

This proves that fans throughout the country are FansUnited against Franchise Football! Lets hope the next team approached will also see sense and follow the lead of the other four clubs approached to play a friendly on the 15th July.

But would teams pull out of league games against them?

A friendly is a non essential game which doesn't have to be played. The simple nature of a league season is each team must play every team.

If either of my teams drew MK Dons away in a cup match or league game, I would not attend out of principle. Having said that, I respect any fans right to go along to the Hockey Stadium.

A number of fans have boycotted games involving MK Dons in the past. When it comes to the fixture against MK Dons in a clubs fixture list, fans should remember 'MK DON'T!' and go along and watch another team.

How many times have we and our old EFC friends put up that other people should keep out of how we run our own clubs only for someone on here to poke the nose into another club?

I disagree Brunob. This incident has proved that the best form of impartial policing comes from the supporters. It works both ways so sometimes fans of other clubs will speak up and talk against other teams policies and sometimes they will rally to offer support.

If it wasn't for fans sticking their oar into other teams affairs the Luton 'No Away' supporters issue may have stood firm, Ken Bates may have turned on the electric fence, Thames Valley Royals may have been formed and it could even have been Dublin Dons!

The fans of 'other' clubs deserve a tremendous amount of credit for having helped get these issues overturned.

FansUnited - Together we can make a difference!

A lot of energy seems to be put into worrying about a team from Buckinghamshire, if we drew them in a cup game I would go on the principle of supporting my team, if everyone refused to go only the team would suffer.

Move on, Wimbledon has its team & Milton Keynes has its team, simple choice.
