hampton 1 Billericay 1

A very small away following for this one, and maybe those that stayed away knew something we didnt!

Kerrigan was out (injured?) so Calder made the strange decision of putting Carthy at left back, this despite Nicky Savidge being on the bench and Rantala. It was a descision that didnt work as every Hampton attack game from this side of the pitch. hamptons goal, midway through the first half, came after a long hanging cross ( not surprisingly from the right !) which was turned in at the far post. Very scrappy goal.

The referee was clearly yet another one that hadnt read up on his rules. Hampton's big lump of a keeper blatently handled outside the box which the referee clearly knew as he gave us the free kick but only punished 'the lump' with a yellow card. How this was the right decision no one knows.

Calder saw the light in the second half and played the players in their natural positions, with Henty to left back, Penn to right and put Carthy back into midfield. We instantly played better but the problem seemed to be the killer ball. The lads had more possesion but without being dangerous. The introduction of DJ (he desevers more than 10 mins at the end) saw us score within minutes of him coming on. His pass resulted in Carthy slotting home for the equaliser. We should have won it from here after Roy had a very easy chance to finish hampton off but got it all wrong, very wrong!

It was a gloomy day, the players looked jaded maybe tuesdays 2 hours took its toll, it was cold and there was no one there. With us now 14 points off the top of the table this was a bad result for us, seems like the curse of the bottom teams strikes again.

lets try and get the numbers up for tuesdays game.

Yucky day in sarf London cold wet and miserable. Thought the first 45mins was probably as bad as we've played this season - Gifted them a soft goal. Started playing after 60 mins and got an equaliser which in fairness we deserved - but only because Hampton were so poor. Good to see Carthy back amongst the goals again, he took his goal well. Ref was absolutely atrocious, blew up 5 minutes early, failed to send the keeper off and completely lost control of the game. Wasn't helped by the linos who appeared to have no idea of the offside rule.

'the lump' - a very big man, didnt look like he was going to be the most agile keeper and still dont know if he is as we never really gave him a shot to save, oh and he didnt know that he isnt allowed to catch the ball out side of that little place known as the penalty area.
