FINAL SCORE Slough 3-2 Berkhampsted

Ex Slough player Richardson got both their goals and when they went into the lead just after the break, we didn't seem to have a clue, after dominating the 1st half. Goals from Gyoury, Williams and B. Bubb between 65 and 80 minutes won us the game. Bateman and assistant weren't happy about the 2nd goal as just before we took the throw in that led to the goal, they tried to make a sub but the lino and ref didn't take any notice. Never mind, eh!

never had any doubt that we would win!!!!! Ok so I'm talking a load of old balls but hopefully we can build on the fighting spirit that was on display once we pulled one back.

To be honest, though we were the better team we never looked like scoring, and had Gyoury's header not been deflected in the net I doubt we'd have scored. But great fightback, lets just hope we don't have to go two down every game to have a bit of backbone.

Just heard Slough mentioned on the telly - we got a mention because Macclesfield have a habit of long penalty shoot-outs in the FA Cup against non-league sides. Not really consolation for Harrogate Railway being on live in the morning but at least we got a mention.

Come on you rebels!

well, I think we have to give Browne a little credit. Even though we played badly for large periods, he made the right choice in sending Winston on for the ineffective Boot, and for playing Palmer. OK so you might say he had no choice but to put them on but it worked a treat when he did.

By the way it was very important we won today to keep in the hunt - Wealdstone and Northwood both won.

Disagree with you on Boot,i thought he worked hard today,Deji Davies missed a few good goal scoring opportunities and looked a bit clumsey in the box.Sammy and Tony up front has prooved to be agood partnership in the past,so why didnt them two start? C'mon u Rebels.

Blimey ! Brownie did something right by bringing Sammy and Dean on , it changed the game ! (have 2 agree with barrington - boot played well , shouldn't have gone off) . Makes you think tho' , should they have started then we probably wouldn't have gone two down . Berkhampstead were another poor side and they were above us !

Boot did well enough first half, but struggled in the second half when Slough were playing the long ball to him - he was never going to win those headers. The long ball game doesn't do him any favours when most defenders in this league are above 6ft tall.

I still stick by the fact that he is the best natural finisher of the three established strikers, although from what I saw of Davies on Saturday (First 45 minutes) he looked like he will be a good asset once he settles into the squad as well.

Boot is lightweight, but a very intelligent player at the same time. His runs and distribution are quite good and his goalscoring can't be that bad with 10 goals already this season. I still think Winston and Davies should be the starting duo, but then both Sammy and Tony have been playing with minor injuries recently which may have hampered them both.

Glad to see Hale back for striker place competition and now the squad is getting fit again, we may be able to string some wins together against our rivals.

Whilst I would agree with the comment above about Tony Boot being hard working and making some intelligent runs, I cannot agree he is a "natural finisher". He has missed some (vital) sitters this season, and the great majority of goals he has scored have been scuffs/mishits - I can't help feeling he has been lucky to get as many goals as he has.

As for Deji Davies, whilst he looked fit and sharp and clearly has a turn of pace, I felt he failed in two vital respects :

- despite his height he pretty well failed to win a single high-ball in the Berko match - just didn't seem to get far enough off the ground.

- when receiving the ball to his feet or chest, his first touch was rarely good enough to give him control of the ball.

With our midfield not working well without Veli and Gilkes, we need a target man who can win possession of the long ball and create time for other players to get forward.

Having said that, both Hales and Deaner have been disappointing in their starts this season, so personally I'm not sure what our best option is. I would imagine Deji will get another chance this weekend.

Good news (I think) is that Hornchurch will be missing both of their “internationals” – Dimitri Kharine (ex-Chelsea keeper) and Steve Martin (ex-Welsh U-21 apparently). They were both sent-off against Berkhamsted a couple of matches back so assume both will be suspended on Saturday. It will be difficult enough to catch Northwood or Wealdstone, so we cannot afford any other teams to distance themselves from us – Hornchurch are six points clear of us now – we cannot let that become nine !

I thought Davies did quite a good job in the respect that he was trying to bring the ball down or back enough into the defender to the point where the ball would come to his feet or chest.

Also thought that for a 'big man' he had quite a good first touch, but then I only saw the first 45.....

Tony Boot is a quality player and still very young. His technique is excellent and he links up really well with the midfield. I think he also is a very good goalscorer.

Trouble is with Slough fans most of them compare every striker with Mark West - especially the moaners!

Booty seems to be lacking a bit of confidence at the moment despite scoring last week against Wembley. You have to remember though that lately he has not had Sammy or Haley up front with him and therefore has had a lot of pressure on him to do the business.

Yes he is a little light, but he scores goals and is a good team player. I can't believe someone is moaning about him - in fact I find it a little staggering!
