All Change - Scarborough relegated, Altrincham Stay Up

Recommended Posts

Worse than that, its almost as if the Star Chamber has been reinstated. What are the Conference board going to do? Try and now find a rule that they can apply to justify their decision? Still it is good news for Alty who had been very harshly treated.

Having read the Scarborough message I'm intrigued by this extract:

"The Conference sought information on Boro’s finances two weeks ago and the Club complied with the request. Two other conference members are subject to CVA’s at present and a third has indicated its intent to move into Administration. None of these clubs was invited to provide similar information or guarantees."

Could somebody, who keeps up with play somewhat better than me, please reveal who the 2 existing CVA clubs are & the third that has signalled intent. Presumably this covers North & South, as well as National?

Bascially, just confirm it's someone like Creepy who are the intendees & not ...... (Don't even go there.)

Cheers

Crawley have applied to go into administration

I don't see why.

In a sense, the correct outcome has been reached here - Scarborough deserved to go down based on results on the pitch and Alty didn't. But the method in which this scenario has been reached is the real controversy. Obviously, with Moules refusing to disclose the exact reason for Scarborough's demotion, it's hard to comment on this in full. But surely details of why Scarborough were relegated and demoted ten points will have to be revealed in the coming days, particularly given that Crawley also have financial problems at the moment and that apparently wasn't considered an issue.

Good finances and a mid table finish are of course no guarantee to survival with the present incumbents on the league committee. A minor unwitting administrative error early in the season could cause certain relegation as has been shown.

Without disclosure of reasons for alledged transgressions, it now seems almost any team can be penalised, without apparent appeal, whilst others, even clubs going into administration and having already been fined for financial irregularities can appear to get away with it scot free.

To be honest, the Conference board and their decisions need a full and independant review by the top people at the football league and FA to find out what exactly is going on.

Clearly all is not well, the management have lost the confidence of almost every club and fan, and it needs sorting out before the new season.

Most clubs that get into serious financial trouble either do it through over ambition in the transfer market, which I think Roly stated stated recently that 'We never have, and never will spend money we haven't got' (that may not be an exact quote but that was the gist) or through building a new stadium......gulp!

We do need a new ground and other than a decent FA cup run a new ground is probably the only way we have of getting a significant number of new fans in, but with so many building projects not being completed on time and running way over budget it has to be a worrying time for Fleet fans.

Part two of my answer: the Conference clubs currently under CVAs, according to the Alty website, are York and Halifax.

Cheers.

Am I right in thinking that a CVA puts a block on buying players? If so, both these clubs did remarkably well last season, especially Halifax who, according to all accounts were the better team for most of the Play Off Final. Presumably they must have built a team of fit, keen, well drilled, full time youngsters (plus the odd bald eagle thorn in our side like Sugden of course.)
