Hodges Signs For Hampton

HamptonFan - If that were true, he could have moved to clubs in a higher league who are expected to challenge. Sadly for your team, this could cause some upset with some of the good players there on less money.

A shame to see him go as he played with his heart on his sleeve and gave his all, often when not fully fit. Ignoring the end of the Browne era we had three good years from Hodgey and I wish him well, even if it is at Hampton

I'm just disappointed that he's not tried to better himself by going to play at a higher level, and agree totally with your comments. Always gives his all and his goalscoring record over the past three seasons speaks for itself. Good luck to him and hopefully when we're in a better position stadium wise, we'll be able to entice him back.

I doubt it was that lucrative, we aint got that much money.

I would call any increase on the £400pw he was getting pretty lucrative!

[****!!****]. I am absolutely gutted by that - never thought he would leave us for a club at the same level and certainly not for Hampton. Not sure I will be able to physically stomach seeing him play for that lot next season. He has actually gone down in my estimation now which is disappointing because he was always brilliant for us scoring tons of goals, playing out of position and battling through injury. I just keep forgetting that ultimately players are mercenaries.

I've just thought actually that perhaps at the end of next season, can we award our worst players the majority of the awards? For the past two seasons, the player which has scooped the majority of awards seems to have left within a month!

Guess it had to happen some day, unfortunately the only way to look at the situation is that he was probably the highest earner at the club and that the money now released will go towards 2 or 3 decent players who have proven themselves at this level or above.

It's going to be hard to find a striker that will score 20+ goals a season though.
