Regarding the Concord Grant Beglan post

Firstly Concord did approach Canvey re a merger.

Secondly Grant Beglan would quite happily of spoken to Canvey if someone had approached him

but unfortunately no one did.

He is taking a year out from football but will financially back Concord for promotion.

Maybe Jeff wouldn't allow us to talk to him!!!?

That wouldn't suprise me after the Ryman Premier league shambles..

I know we don't want 1 backer but if people are willing to put klarger amounts of cash into the club then surly we should look at the option..

I can also understand the reluctance by many people to become reliant upon financial backers.

However, what we do need from people is their experience and contacts - business or otherwise. We need people who can attract sponsors and keep an eye on the financial situation but without investing their own money. We need their brains.

I don't think the club wants any individual to "own" CIFC by stumping up cash. Thats how these investors work they put money forward and when they want to "pull out" they reclaim their investment. If this can't be met then they look at the assets.

I think we should do alright on our own. I'd go for long term stability through re-building than short term success through the input of money anyday.

Good luck to Concord though, they should provide healthy competition at last.

It's competition we don't need. If they get success, they've got the right to take our potential fan base. The Island could be split right down the middle.

Don't get me wrong, that'd be great. Imagine in a few years and we're both in the Conference South, there's a derby game close to the end of the season and 4000 are packed into Park Lane for the biggest crowd since Aldershot.

But I don't fancy the idea of having to compete with Concord for the tidbits of supporters around here.

I take it they won't be refused promotion over their ground this time them?

Hmmm imagine that, the Yellow/White halves of Canvey - Be just like Merseyside!

As for competition, well no-one can make an individual part with their money, but first impressions do help and I think we have the upperhand in that at the moment.

Suppose one person puts a large amount of money into the club, we would then budget accordingly. Then, suppose that same person pulled out, we would be in the same situation we are now, where the outgoing costs far outweigh the money coming in.
