Recommended Posts

i heard it was the council bagpuss. they apparently wont let them in as they own ground and wont give them permission to do the necessary upgrades.

Is this just about certain people wanting the name of the ESL to remain. If there is to be rationalisation of leagues, we have to accept some change or keep going with 14 teams etc.

Also why is more not being done to encourage the Intermediate sides along. The White Ensigns, Harold Woods, Herongates and Rayleigh Towns of this world.

Also if there are strcit ESL boundaries why cant we demand that the FA make the likes of Clacton,Halstead etc return to the ESL. The fact that we call ourself by the county name...... and others go by regions means we are always going to loose out to other level five leagues!

No, no, no.....out with old and in with the new. Call it the Greater London League with a good local sponsor, have Leagues North, South, East and West, plus varying divisions under. Keep Ryman and Southern Premier and Div 1s, but there are enough step 4/5 clubs in the said conurbation to fill a 22-team constitution in each division.

Each region may have a differing amount of 'under divisions' but that is no problem.

Surely the boards of all the step five local leagues can amalgamate and run each section.

Or this far too sensible?

Just hang in there please, I have been working away at this for weeks now and know that I have until AGM on 14th to come up with the answers, some of which are in my Annual Report which I am happy to allow to enter the public domain once all clubs have read same - hopefully these will keep the old ESL pot boiling for quite a while yet !!

I'm sure that all local teams at step 5 would love to play in the friendly and sociable ESL for ever LC.

But what I personally (can't speak for anyone else of course) would also like to see is a substantial club involvement of at least 20 each season if not the perfect 22!

Aha says Sherlock Trueblueandgold!

Do I detect a hint in your last post Dr LC Watson that it could be the FA's intention to retain our beloved ESL at the next Step 5 reorganisation.

And not only that but also enhance it up to the required level of 20/22 clubs with some appropriate additions from other nearby Step 5 leagues?

Now what possibly gave you that idea?

We are a dormant big club with realistic expectations.

Not like other one man and his dog clubs who seem to be shedding support like a seaside pier with rotting timbers. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

The proposed Constitution of the League for 2006/2007 has now been forwarded to all Member clubs and includes two new clubs plus Clapton who have been allocated from the Ryman 2 but as these two new clubs, one in the NW of the County and the other just inside the London boundary are subject to approval by the Football Association National Leagues Committee, who have, so far, been extremely co-operative and fully appreciate that, having lost three clubs going up, want to help to restore the status quo, the applications are Provisional, so it is probably best to wait until the AGM on June 14th before anything further is said. If we are given this opportunity to remain at 16 it will be a springboard to work on for 2007/2008 when we hope to continue co-operating with the F A and can conform to the new ideals of the National League system ( 20/22 member clubs )plus a Step 6 second division.
