FUTURE OF ESL

Recommended Posts

report in the echo last night said that the senior league is to go ahead with only 14 teams this year . also said that is has been proposed that the esl joins with the kent senior league but the LC has said if that happens then the whole esl board would resign .

Is it the end for the ESL ???

26 league matches this year , what a joke that is

Sounds a positive idea, hardly a world trek going over Betty's Bridge every other week. I will be surprised if the FA will allow a senior league to operate with such a small constitution, unless we play each other three times and revert the cups back to the old system of one-off matches, and the GBT to become a repechage competition again.

Unfortunately it is probably too late for any such merger now and next season will be a suck it and see excercise.

Absolute Bo**ocks! Why is it that the FA said all step 5 leagues should have 20 teams in (is it 20?) and then redistribute teams to leagues that already have enough teams and leave us with only 14. Why didn't we get 3/4 Ryman 2 teams? Why did the Spartan and CCL get more teams when they have 2 divisions with 20 plus teams in? I don't know why they didn't re-organise step 5 this year and rename leagues and shuffle all the teams about. Instead of Essex Senior, Kent league, CCL and Spartan why not name the leagues relevent to the teams in them. We could have got a few teams from the Hertford area and been called the Essex and Herts! Or why not have CCL East, West etc? When you start naming leagues by geographical area you are going to get problems. Why not name the leagues after sponsers and you can still have teams close to each other but in different counties i.e. we could then have teams like KIngsbury, Edgware etc. Why did Wembley get put in the CCL?

Total shambles as usual!

I doubt FC Risden will get in this year, I was at the dog track (where FC RIsden will play) at the start of May and I dont think there are football floodlights there, I know there are lights that higlight the track, also there are not as yet changing facilities there, so they are cutting it very tight.

How about this. For all step five clubs in the south east, why not create a Greater London League and have divisions North, South, East and West.

With so many clubs in this area it would end any regional problems as with Kent, Essex et al.

You could have an imbalance of divisions in each league for regional purposes and the champions of the top flight in each league, and maybe play-offs, would be eligible for promotion to step 4.

I understand that the powers that be who run the local step five leagues would have their feathers ruffled, but they cannot continue in their intransigence, as without change we all go to the wall.

coup that makes far too much sense for anyone at the FA to comprehend. they prefer the stupid headless chicken like decisiions.

According to our local rag - they are buying Harlow Towns old lights and the changing rooms are planned?

i cant believe that <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> would be good for the esl though as more teams but a big blow to the mighty BEASTS

if the KSL and ESL merge, as pointed out in the NLP, when southend manor play for arguments sake hythe town, they would have to travel practically into london and back out again coming back on themselves!!! for a 7-45 kick off with players not leaving work till 5ish, cutting it fine!!!

Fair point, but I would like to think that any prospective or existing fixture secretary, would have the nous to arrange said fixture(s) for early and late season on a Saturday.

I cannot imagine the Eastern Counties make Fakenham go to Clacton or Tiptree in midweek, unless absolutely necessary. Still a fair slap for our level on any day, how many miles? Must be a good 180mile round trip.
