Marginaly concerned that as RT is quoted that he is happy with the squad as i wonder whether we are short in 3 positions:

 

Goalkeeper.

 

Central defence-there is no way that Donovan(who i rate and i think will be half a stone lighter and a yard quicker next season) and Trott can play every game and remain fit and not suspended.

Even if you include Hasim(i think he is best in defnesive mdfield) you need 4 central defenders.JKeister gave an option last season, but i don't think our current crop of midfielders can cover central defence.

 

 

Striker-need another here.I can understand RT holding back here, as arguably we still have Yiga,Brayley and Sesay,but with Pinnock apparently favouring lying deeper, we do seem one out and out striker short.

Reflecting a bit more, i guess i am being greedy, and RT has now got his hands tied until Yiga(who i thought was contracted for next season)and Brayley get new clubs, and thus definately off the payroll, and maybe Osman commands a bit of a decent fee.

 

Maybe then RT will go for the second round of signings necessary, albeit we may miss out on the best players by then

MM I am sure Trotty hasnt finished with signing on players yet. He did say that for now his MAY targets have been achieved. Still a long way from the beginning of the season so I wouldnt be surprised to see other faces coming in yet.

As for Donovan,sorry I dont agree thats he's a good option.Where I do agree with you is that if he loses some weight it might improve his game. Without that loss of weight I still maintain he is a liability.However,as I have mentioned previously everyone gets a second chance in my eyes this season.We will have to see on that one. Should he not be in the line-up then obviously we need someone else back there.Deen is not a defender. He is a midfielder through & through. But with that section seemingly filled am also sure he will be used at the back. Wasted there but thats probably where he'll end up,or on the bench.Standen,I still feel,from last seasons form & from what I saw is another weak link but again he gets another chance to impress me. Hopefully something will rub off on these two from the others.We do need another forward of that I wholeheartedly agree with.

Osman,though not in much form near the close of season must be given a fair crack at it. When he does get a game from start I expect him to be playing up front wide.Anything else would be a waste of his talents.I sure hope he is allowed to blossom this year rather than being pissed about like he was last year.I would expect that improvement to come a couple of games into the season,PROVIDED he gets two or three games under him,regardless of his form in those first few games.Another Keeper is a must & I am sure Trotty has this in hand.Theres no way he COULDNT have this in mind.

Duku-a bit of a Beastie, and a useful addition,but does not exactly add pace to what could be our weak link-lack of pace in defence

We as a club are in a position we have not been in for years. We have a squad which as it stands now is capable of winning the league. Obviously the team will get injuries, hopefully not many. we will have a reserve side to fall back on next season, one which is made up of players wanting to play in the 1st team as and when the opportunity arises, if not then they shouldn't be wearing the shirt. Also no doubt we will have a few quality players on trial during the friendlies(maybe another Sodje/Bechet out there). All in all i am more than satisfied with the way things are shaping. So lets all be positive and lets start to concentrate on whats coming up on the 10th of June instead and leave the gate in the capable hands of King Trottie.
