Fantasy Fleet............

Recommended Posts

So, you have no restrictions - dead, alive, past, present... which player would you really want to see in a Fleet shirt? For me, George Best - a truly great player, a fantastic personality on the pitch, and a guaranteed full house every week!

Douglas Bader, just think how much fun we could all have whingeing about Daish if he signed a bloke with no legs!

Good in the air though.

Not bad on the wing either <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

What about Conference legend Jimmy Jackson?

I know I am being monotomously boring on this subject. But Fleet legend yes, conference legend no.

4 years at conference level in a longish non league career, in which in the 3 for Fleet no player of the year award, and only a bit part player in spell at Daggers. ( I know that was mostly due to injury)is hardly the stuff of legends.

And whilst we love Jimmy here, I am afraid to say I don't believe his name on the teamsheet would put shivers down the spine of the opposition or enthuse other teams supporters to say , ' I am looking forward to seeing that Jacko fellow at the Fleet, I 've heard great things'.

my postings are coming across as tho I have something against Jimmy, but I don't I am trying to put it all into perspective. Losing someone of Jimmys experience and passion is a loss, but its not the end of the world.

Up the Fleet

But then very few non-league players, even excellent ones, do hold this status.

I'm not going to offer a more robust defence of Jimmy here, since we've done this to death already.
