Annual confusion

Does anybody else think that the top of the Non-League pyramid is becoming a joke. I see it has been announced that Altrincham have lost their place in the Conference due to playing 18 matches with an inellegible player. They have been deducted all the points gained when he played. What a joke. They had no way of knowing that he was tied to an Icelandic club already. Not only that but Accrington, who they signed him from, don't get punished because he only played for the reserves. With all the computer systems available and money involved in football would you not think that a system could be set up to prevent this? Non-league will become a joke the way things are going. Margate were thrown out just because they were not allowed to groundshare. Tamworth now saved because Canvey have dropped out and Scarborough saved because of Altrincham. This is three seasons in a row now that the bottom clubs have escaped relegation from the Conference. Also this week Carshalton have been relegated from the Conf South rather than Leigh RMI despite league rules stating that the team with the least points(Leigh)should be relegated. Last Sunday it was announced that Scarborough and Alty were relegated, then on the Monday it was Tamworth and Scarborough and the following Monday it was Canvey and Scarborough and today its Canvey and Alty. The whole thing is becoming a joke.

[color:"blue"]It does make it difficult to defend the concept of Non League Football when issues like these are so apparent.

The Conference Divisions have been a joke for many years, what credibility is there in Divisions where promotion & relegation are constantly decided by issues happening in smoky commitee rooms rather than on the pitch?

The Ryman / Southern & Unibond Leagues are constantly tinkering with their territories, but decisions have to be ratified by three boards. It's ridiculous that since the big re-organisation a few seasons ago that Sittingbourne & Chatham played in diffent Leagues to Ashford, Bromley, Cray, Tonbridge & Dover (finally amended for next season) ... surely steps 7 & 8 should be governed by just one body. They're gradually getting it right but there are a couple of matters that still need resolving. Why did our season end so soon, missing the opportunity of another possible Bank Holiday Monday fixture moneyspinner & why were the play-offs rushed in one week?

It is really, Gravesend's ground is not as good as the old Hartsdown and yet they are allowed to play conference football.

What exactly is that based on? Even with a terrace almost entirely closed apart from at the front at Stonebridge Road at the moment, I still don't see a lot of difference in standard between the two.
