Season Ticketgate

Recommended Posts

Having read the posts today and yesterday i would like to put my take on the situation.

The club has the right to allow only the ticket holder into the ground.

However there is a 'spanish custom' of other people using the ticket when the holder cannot make the game.I think the expense of the season tickets nowadays is one reason it is overlooked at the Prem. clubs.I have seen in the past people being ejected from Fulham for using someone elses ticket.

I do however feel the club has not acted well in this instance.

1)The club should have put a notice on the forum and the gate, the first time they noticed this had happened.

In doing so making it clear the clubs position on non-tranferable tickets.

2)Esu should not have used the season ticket more than once,as he should have been told the first time it was not allowed.

3)Tink and Bridge, should have been informed that they should not pass their tickets onto a 3rd party in private or by letter.

Banning them from holding a season ticket is somewhat draconian and informing them of this fact on a public forum is quite distastful.

My conclusion is that there has been a blind eye been operating in the past re. season tickets and they are being punished now, not for this ,but for the remarks of dissent in previous posts.

I have gone on record of saying, that i did not understand the 'dissenters' reasons for their protests;however i feel this issue has been handed poorly.

The actions of the club are like that of a Chief Whip;store up some indisgretions and use it to beat some into line with later.

Finally, the banning of people should not take place on a open forum;that action does not sit well with me.

I simply do not believe that these 'indiscretions' have been saved up to use for any purpose at any time. They were not known about until last week! And the detail of course would never have been known unless someone had posted the information (and that information was not asked for).

The season ticket situation is one, I agree, that is a moot point. Many clubs do turn a blind eye to the borrowing of tickets for people other than those of original issue specification. However, and despite what has already been posted, I do not believe that anyone wanted to be draconian over this issue and it seems to have got a bit out of hand.

I'm pretty sure that the lending of season tickets happens from time to time and the incident(s) that is/are the subject of this thread was certainly not something that was known to the club when it occurred. Indeed, as I have said earlier it only came to light during usual end of season auditing last week and was not in any shape or form intended to be the catalyst for a witch hunt.

Back to the main event then - It is perhaps somewhat naive of us to believe that season tickets we issue to individuals are for those individuals use only - after all, anyone buying a season ticket for this club surely has the best interests of the club at heart and that is why they bought their ticket in the first instance. On that basis all such tickets are issued by the club in good faith.

Of course blind eyes can be and are turned to certain matters and in the scheme of things this is not an issue that begets recriminations 'after the fact' and any reading of that is not the case. How events turned from happy to recriminatory on another thread regarding this matter is, it seems, conducive to the prevailing climate.

I agree however that clarity is important and the raising of the subject has therefore led to what I hope is a satisfactory conclusion:-
Rules of use for season tickets will be issued with those tickets for next season.

No recriminations and I sincerely hope that this can now draw a line under the matter.

Please please please do NOT take this as a swipe , dig or any other way to mis-construe what I am about to post.

Too much of this has gone on already IMO!

Thank you so much Mr Office boy for that post.

I'm sure everybody will agree that this is what's needed here, some good old fashioned communication from the officials of the club.

That post clears up ANY argument that anyone in future could possibly have about season tickets.

Can we have more of this please??

There are too many questions being asked that are either being ignored or just ananswered.

Unc pointed out that sid was speaking for the silent majority and was being ignored, well.. I know how he feels!!!

I feel I have made some quite valid points here and they have just been brushed over, subject changed and subject changed.

Again, this is not a dig but common sense and again, thank you John.

Then please, please, can you see the common sense in us resolving some issues that have been straining us all to a breaking point in the past weeks...

Reading and digesting CV's and interviewing in unexpectedly having to seek a new Manager, liaising with the players, sorting out the summer sports events at The Stadium to try and dove-tail with the essential pitch work that has also had to be agreed in detail. 9 Schools cup finals all involving associated pitch preparation, League registrations and forms to fill in including County and FA, three different AGM documents to read and digest, stadium works to prioritise and arrange, meetings with the Council, last season audits, budgets, forward planning and for me particularly, keeping the missus from climbing the wall!

I'm not fobbing off, trying to use excuses or denegrating anything else, but these issues have got to be addressed before all else (and a lot have now through all of us working damned hard to do it). If not, then little else matters anyway.

Even in replying I am frightened that in the current climate someone will want to take issue with this. We're not perfect, but cut us a bit of slack for the moment. Please.
