Wages

This, written by a Dulwich fan, is taken from another forum. The wages paid to non-league players never ceases to amaze me...

"Money paid is certainly not equal across the board in our division, Ryman One. We are reckoned to pay £3,000 a week. Our top earners are on about £300 a week, but many lower than that. This is a huge amount of money in my book, and we are not the top payers by a long chalk, albeit one of the higher ones. Last season we were paying out £2,000 a week.

"The problem with knowing how much players/clubs are on (& we live in a very small, gosiip filled, goldfish bowl in non league football) is that you are not sure if the figures quoted are before or after tax; bonuses and so on.

"Fisher Athletic pay well over £10,000 a week. I know one player last season was on £600 basic, with extra for win bonuses and goal scoring bonuses. On some weeks he cleared a grand! And prior to last season he turned down £500 a week from Macclesfield Town to return to the Football League, instead choosing the money at Fisher!"

Makes you wonder what our weekly wage bill will be next season!
