There seems to be a problem getting from my login and entering the password and the site opening up. Quite a few times of late I seem to have to try three or four times before it opens. No. It is a lot slower of late Andrew.

 

I always get a page of gobbledegook before the log-in is accepted.

Hi guys,

 

Hopefully I can answer all your concerns.

 

I am aware of one or two minor issues with text appearing at the top - everything should still work and the speed should not be any different in running the site.

 

I must admit that I rarely login as I have the 'remember me' ticked and the cookie should last for some time keeping you logged in.

 

You may also notice validation 'errors' scroll down if you make some changes under 'My Home' - this should not effect the ability to make the changes - if it does please let an admin know and we will attempt the change for you.

 

Why are we getting these? Certainly the validation errors came in after we suffered some security issues on the forums - I had to introduce it as a necessary evil However these will soon go (I say soon - probably July being realistic, when we upgrade software)

 

As far as the errors at the top, that sometimes briefly flash up - I'm not sure LOL - however a new navigation system will be slowly rolled out - the first beta of which you will see this week on a World Cup part of the site. Hopefully this will get rid of any issues.

 

Finally yesterday, I started looking at a new server for the site - this will increase my costs to around $500pm, but I think you are all worth it with the increased costs I am going to have to think about re-couping some of it. The reason behind the new server is that we are continuing to grow - this weekend for example was one of the busiest for some time - 50% more posts than a usual weekend. I do not want to slow the site any more The server upgrade would take place sometime during the close season, which 'should' be our quiet period.

Cool i was wondering why i get that sometimes cheers ian.for one of the 'quieter' days dont pick the world cup final lol
