Ideas for the Matchday Live service during the close season.

It’s a long summer when you’re gagging for Margate action on the hallowed turf at Hartsdown Park. The World Cup is OK but is it enough?

 

I have been having a think about how we might use the Matchday Live service during the close season. There are two possible options that I could look at and wanted to gauge your interest.

 

The first is for a “phone in”. I think (and I do need to check the implications) that I could host a phone in via the web-site and the Matchday Live service. There would be a couple of technical issues to resolve – including the compatibility of my mobile with other equipment and then cost. But if there’s enough interest, I will look at the possibility.

 

The second is for a hosted programme via the Matchday Live service based on your feedback by message board, text or e.mail together with some extracts from the various audio pieces I have. So it would be a mix of live discussion and requested audio highlights.

 

Let me know what you think and I’ll take a look at putting something together accordingly. And if you like it, we can always do it again before the start of the new season. Is it really still only May?

I think a hosted programme would be very good if you feel you have enough material to do it. I would be listening in.

Thanks for the feedback - keep it coming. Two supplementary questions:

 

1) What kind of content would you like to discuss?

2) What time / day would work best for most people?

3pm on a Saturday or 7pm on a midweek night or Sunday night would be fine. Discussion could be based around summer transfers and opinions about those players already signed. Also what supporters would see as the first choice 11 and why.

Thanks for your ideas – there looks to be enough for two programmes. I like the idea of the first around the World Cup and I am imagining we could do a second one just after the friendlies have started. At this stage, I am thinking that each programme would be around 45 minutes.

 

I also like the idea of using your questions as the basis of some interviews. One thing I would ask though is that you either PM or e.mail (at steve.wells@margate-fc.com) me your questions to make sure I do pick them up and don’t have to trawl through the forum.

 

You might also want to e.mail me your thoughts / comments in audio. You can use the Windows Sound Recorder to create your short piece and e.mail that to me.

 

With both of these, I need to retain editorial control, so if you do send me some audio for broadcasting, please make sure it is no worse than certificate “PG”!

 

I am also hoping to get some other contributions from across the county as well as make available some of the audio match highlights we have.

 

Oh, and does anyone else have a warm feeling about this coming season?
