Dear Mr Shepherd

Re: tonights Echo

Mr shepherd seems to believe that the club should dispand altogether and leave him with some "good memories" and that we have adopted a "small-town mentallity and lack ambition" he goes on to say how he thinks we will be "lucky" to get 50 fans.

In response (i told you MOB)

Mr Shepherd the only person lacks ambition is you the ambition to get your ar$e over to the island on a thursday night and listen to the meetings that take place everything said in last nights meeting was very positive i think i even heard talk of promotion last night now if that aint ambition i dont know what is.

I personally will write a cheque out for £100(to essex air ambulance) if we get less than 50 first competative game of the season the majority of people i have spoken to will be back next season because they my friend are real supporters who love their!!! club there will be of course fair weather fans such as yourself who pop in if we have a cup run or win four or five in a row.

The fact is we are not a town we are an island and i prefer the term Community club.

In conclusion i think it is you Mr Shepherd and people like you that are making it a farce every real supporter at the club is very positive.

Yeah, I read that too. What a muppet!

Must admit I was enraged while reading it too.

I'd love to know who he's been talking to regarding 'fans' not coming back as I don't know personally of anyone who said they wont come for the new season.

Yeah we could leave him with some good memories alright <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

What a complete Mug!!

Does he read/post on here?

To say the Club should disband shows a complete lack of drive and ambition. That is an appalling attitude to have at this stage of the season!!

I bet he's one of the old gits that stands to the right of the goal, (as you look at the pitch) moaning all the time and constantly getting people's backs up.

If he wants to go and support another team that is having more success then go and do it. Nothing is keeping him at Park Lane. Any Islander that cared about their home-team would be at those Meetings or at least posting on here giving their full support to the new Managment team.

Well done for pointing that out Linney!

The guy is from Hadleigh! He doesn't even live on the island so what right does he have to dictate how we run our football club? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

It's great that we've got fans from off the island, it shows we've made an impression and attracted supporters that have returned on a regular basis, but no-one makes them come all that way, they do it out of choice. If it's his choice not to return, fair enough! Someone else, most likely and Islander WILL take his place and I bet they'll be a darn sight more passionate than he is right now.

I can't believe the man has the audacity to even pen the last paragraph!!! What a total joker <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

Oi! Oi! Mr moderator

We are all entitled to our opinions even those of us who live off the Island. I have spent the last half hour winding up UU because he stifles free speech on his forum, we cannot do the same.

The correct response would be a response in kind, a carefully worded letter to the paper, challenging his views.

A strong considered articulate response from a few well spoken and articulate supporters challenging his view and pointing out the truth!!

That tends to hurt most.

RIGHT THEN LINNEY PUT THE BIRDS DRINK DOWN AND GET YER PEN OUT!!!

Indeed it does.

Perhaps he should be personally invited down to the Ground to meet the guys now in charge of the day-to-day management of the Club?

He can also bring along those he has spoken to that won't be returning so any questions/worries/theories can be settled and maybe, just maybe they will be convinced that following the Club through it's new era will reap it's rewards in the end.

Yes Rich, but I also know that you've been following the Club even longer than I have and have given the new Board your full backing. Like many of us on here you will be there next season. This guy clearly wishes to walk away and let the Club die - Ain't gonna happen!

I dont live on the Island anymore but i am still a true supporter who gets to most home and away games so living elsewhere should not make any difference, but i would reckon that this Shepherd guy could be a rogue letter to the paper to stir the Kingy saga, however i will agree that, and still think the £8 admission price and not going in Ryman Prem will keep the turn-outs low I'm afraid.

I agree about this eejit!!

If you were there on thursday, you had an opportunity to vote, 100% of those there voted on the prices.

I feel they are expensive for this level, our chairman however made a very good case, I was convinced by his case and therefore voted to accept it.

If there was any dissent, everyone on here knows I would have at least tried to ensure it was heard, there was none (I love a bit of controversy).

I personally would be very dissapointed if those prices voted for were not the prices the we charge next year (even if they are lower)as the best thing about this new regime is we have had a chance to vote.

AFC Sudbury have just announced their prices for season 2006-2007 for their first year in Ryman League 1 North as Adults £4-50, Concessions £2, Under 14 Free, this seems more reasonable and sensible for this standard of football, what hacked me off in the Conference were the high admission prices for what was mainly pretty ordinary fare, it cant be right us charging nearly double to get into a match in the same league, lets sort a decent price scheme out and get people back through the gates.

Sorry Matt!

Been out all day or would have responded sooner.

Dennis Rugg (I think thats his name) talked through the difference £1 would have on the club as opposed to the impact on individual supporters.

It was loads of sums but when push comes to shove, Kids for a quid every game, inc hairy arsed students no matter what age. Fat geezers with bald heads pay full wack!!

Fom my point of view it is better because I can bring a few kids.

The alternative was raise the kids price slightly and drop adults, I would still come but only bring Jnr.

So I voted for the proposal so did every single person, present. A few people had differing views and they were aired, I know some people may not like it but they should have been their to argue their case.

I really do not want to say to much other than, I am sure I will not agree with many of the decisions the new regime make.

The thing is I can say it out loud and people vote on it, that feels so good!!
