Windsor's pitch...

Now don't get me wrong i'm very much greatful for letting us grounshare for the last 3 seasons, but are they suprised we complain about the pitch.

Since about early April there seems to have been MANY semi-finals and finals for junior and senior local football sides - every week, and they wonder why the pitch is in no fit state!!!

As you have already mentioned these finals start early April so this would only account for the last few weeks of the season.

This is done to help raise additional funds for the club and are always booked around senior games so as to keep the pitch in a good enough state for as long as possible.

There are only a couple of games played while the senior season is still going and the majority are played in the two weeks after the season ends. This way there is minimal disruption to the senior sides playing on the pitch.

In the Express Peter Simson said he would seek redress from the league for money spent on the pitch if Slough move.

What utter nonsense that is. We had a three year deal which is over. If Windsor choose to improve their pitch now on the basis that we may enter a new deal that is their lookout.

None but the pitch played appalling as admitted by both the management and playing staff of both sides. It played so poorly that Windsor appear to be investing vast sums to improve it so your point is? Presumably that your an anonymous *@$#.

Thing is Windsor did spend some money on the pitch in the summer. It didn't work. The season before that the pitch was fine.

Good luck in finding a club which will have a fantastic pitch in non-league for 4 sides plus one club training on it!

In our league there's any number of grounds we've visited that have a better pitch than Stag Meadow at present. What happened with the groundsman situation? When Sandy was there it was fine.

When Sandy was groundman at the club the summer work was undertaken by an external contract company. For the first summer Sandy was at the club this company did some very good work on the pitch. The second season there were a few problems and the third season, for one reason or another, the work done left the pitch with holes and patches all over it.

The new groundsman came in with only a matter of a few weeks before the start of the season and it was far too late to try and put the problems right.

Throughout the season the issues have been worked on but when you have 60 senior games on it every season, excluding cup games and local league finals, i was always going to be a bad pitch.

But no disrespect Mal...

Slough pay to play and with windsor 1st and second teams surley thats enough...

looking in the local papers now for about the last 4 weeks , picture after picture after picture of teams playing at Stag meadow... at a time the pitch should be rested and repaired... the picth does not get enough time to recover...

Apr/and early may are the best times for the grass seed to germinate and have plenty of rain to help ! soon it will turm dry and the grass will struggle to grow...

Chris, all the leagues that use the pitch for their finals all pay to use the pitch which brings in much needed extra income.

Yes, April / May is a good time to put down grass seded, if there was nothing on the pitch but you still have a month of the season left in that time. As for it getting too dry and dusty, that is why the pitch has been cultivated and a new irrigation system installed.

In all fairness the pitch held up very well during 2003/2004 and 2004/2005, it is only really 2005/2006 where the pitch has been bad all through the season for reasons that I have already explained.
