I wonder what transfer activity would be like in the summer if all teams refused to release any players before bringing replacements in?

It seems that some people are placing too much importance on the number of players released. Surely the more important issue is who's been released, and the detrimental effects certain departures (particularly Jay and Jacko) could have?

Stevenage have now released a whole raft of players, including Dino Maamria and Jefferson Louis.

Are their fans wetting their pants because players have been released before replacements are signed?

Probably not, because their supporters are very much aware that it is Stevenage's short term intention to become a League club.

As such I am sure that the Stevenage board of directors will not allow the club to take any form of backward step, therefore I am sure that their supporters are confident that the players that are bought in to replace those that have not been retained will be at the very least as good as, if not better.

I wish I could be as confident about those that eventually come-in at Stonebridge Road!

Unfortunately, the club doesn't seem to be helping itself by keeping up a wall of silence regarding new signings. Now LD may be looking at 20-30 players with a view to trialling, or he may even be on holiday, in which case fair play; but a little shared information would go a long way to ease the worry of the fans.

An analogy is with our old rivals Margate, who now have our old team. The players will be meeting the fans very soon in a top rate PR exercise, no doubt season ticket sales are already well on the way to better figures than last year, and with money in the bank as well.

The team appear happy, the board and manager appear happy, and the fans cannot wait for the season to start.

How many season ticket sales have we made?

Probably a dissappointing number, possibly because fans are awaiting on field developments before investing in £180.

I'm not convinced that amount represents good value if you are watching an inexperienced, untried team largely conprising of youngsters who failed to get contracts at bigger clubs.

So whats new about that CG?

Communication is hardly a strong point of the powers that be at Stonebridge Road.

Never has been, probably never will be!

With the well documented on & off field problems, one could be forgiven for thinking communication (or lack of) would at least have been on the board meeting agenda a week or so ago.

At least they did announce the line up of the board.

We now have more managers & directors than players!.

It's a bit like the Civil Service or NHS!!!

Once again PR is one of the clubs biggest failings, season after season we hear the same complaint, and once again the silence is deafening.

And they expect the fans to appear in droves to pay out their hard earned for season tickets!

The attitude seems to be if there's no news then there's nothing to say,but surely they cannot be oblivious to the dismay the supporters are feeling, Daish has made a

major clearout of the playing squad (some of which are dubious to put it mildly, especially the reasons for doing so) the budget is cut and they don't think the supporters need some reassurance!!!

Eh? If the Club hasn't signed anyone, there's nothing to tell.

Why should the Club reveal the players they're targetting, since such an action could alert other prospective employers and damage our chances of getting them?

This is getting rather tedious. I refer you back to my and Slarti's posts higher up the thread.

There are other clubs in a similar position right now regarding player numbers.

With all the worry some of you lot are doing day after day after day, there'll be a cardiac arrest ward packed full of despondent Fleet fans before the month is out.

I'm not concerned about the fact that we only have five players signed up for next season so far - as Stu has pointed out, it's early days.

What I am concerned about is the speed of transition to full-time football and some of the players that have been released.
