Yes. Given C***** the elbow. But what's the "exciting news"? Or is that it?

Good luck!

Q.What did they bring Canvey?

A. [****!!****] all, less coverage from BBC Essex and not one single extra supporter, then when we need marketing the most, they bugger of to ricay.

Enjoy each other, I think you will find, you already have more supporters than they have listeners in your area.

Coz that is exactly what happened!

When it looked like we were on the up, they were here, now we are struggling, they are gone.

If that is that you want fine! Enjoy!!

If you want a long term genuine partner, interested in your club you might want to look over your shoulder.

You like us have had a bit of turmoil in past years, be aware if it comes along again, they will make the decisions that are important to them and not you.

We all have to make decisions that are import to "us",

we all want maximum exposure.

If not Canvey, then why not Chelmsford?

Billericay are a good and willing partner. We have lots to offer, and are nice people to deal with.

The perfect partnership

Enjoy!

My wishes for you are the same as those for David et al!!

Good luck!

Just be aware, Canveys coverage on the BBC last year was very poor, compared to other conference teams (was that a flook, I dunno but the BBC has a much larger audience in ricay tha Classic Gold).

Everyones got a better audience than Classic Gold (formerly known as 'the breeze'), in my two years back in the UK 2002-4, I never heard this station on anywhere. I believe they broadcast on the semi-defunct AM band, though listnership should improve when digital radio becomes popular. All said and done if this little station are prepared to pay Billericay sponsorship money then that has to be a good arrangement. But then again my gut feeling says this is a contra-deal as its hard to see who would actually gain the more publicity from this link-up.

My old man listens to Breeze...

In all fairness Oz, the fact that you never heard them means nowt - I've never heard Radio 4 on anywhere (at least not since I started listening to the Cricket on 5 live sports extra <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />) but I understand they're doing pretty well! I guess it's pretty rare to hear anybody elses radio - most people listen in the car or at work...

I think it's important that we strive to be a more outward looking club than most - reading comments from supporters of other local clubs they seem to expect positive coverage to fall into their laps. This is not a luxury we are afforded unfortunately. We're certainly not in a position to ignore opportunities to promote ourselves!

In terms of numbers, how many people in Billericay read the Echo? or the Gazette? or the Recorder? or listen to BBC essex or visit the club website? I doubt for any of them it's more than a couple of thousand, but between them all it's probably a good percentage of our target audience. Hopefully any opportunities working with Classic Gold Breeze give us will help us increase this.

i feel i need to speak

i spent a number of hours not minutes deciding which club was best for us from a marketing and business point of view and thats why we have chosen billericay town as the club we wish to support in the coming season...proposals are currently with the chairman

i am meeting him tomorrow to discuss how we do everything and one thing i would want to do is chair a fans forum to get all fans input into what they want to see from a radio station and what input they'd like so everyone is onside.

effectively billericay town will have its own radio station not something many clubs can boast.

i very much look forward to working with billericay town fc and helping the club in the same way i helped canvey island over the last few years.

Hi Gazza.

I make no apology for not knowing that Classic Gold were sponsors of Canvey Island over the past few years as I was otherwise engaged on Saturday afternoons. How did it 'work'? Does the radion station give updates on air from the game etc.? News from the club during the week? Was the coverage limited to the Essex region? I imagine that red-hot news that the Islanders had taken the lead against Gravesend & Northfleet would hardly bring the traffic to a standstill on Saturday afternoon in, say Newcastle.

Did the station limit its coverage to Canvey Island locally?

Do they 'do' this kind of thing [sponsor a local Non League football club, I mean] elsewhere in the country?

The proposed Fans Forum could be quite interesting, but a summary in advance would be helpful as I am likely to be busy that night and it's a little far to travel!

AFF, I understand most of the stations output is networked and not local apart from the adverts and some local news during the day, so I doubt very much if they broadcast a local saturday sports programme like their predecessor Essex Radio did.

Nonetheless as Simon points out all publicity adds up and this has to be a good thing for Billericay Town FC. But I will add you can also hear radios played in Shops, Cafe's and from market stalls.

Okay...

I myself, am fully aware of where David 's support lie over the past couple of seasons through many coversations with Nighttime Neil (banter amoung friends is a wonderful thing) BUT that dosesn't necessarily mean that Canvey is the best club for the radio station now that they are no longer a Conference side. Current circumstances do have a influence as to where business place their sponsorship and interest of any club, despite any personal preference's.

My own thoughts are, that it is a good idea and I hope that it will work and any assisstance that David requires to make this a success for the radio station and the club, he has only to ask.

We will be having a BTSA AGM on 11th July 2006 (one for the diary) and if David wishes to attend he will be more than welcome.

One last thought...Jeeezzzzz, some people just can't get up to speed here!!! Yes, some people will jump the Canvey ship beacuse they are now three leagues below where they were. It's business and nothing personal!!! Perhaps, instead of bleating and moaning about those that are, they should be getting out and looking for those that will, for the future of the club? Anyway...did Canvey ever have the support that warranted this? Lets have an honest answer to that one!!!
