ANNOUNCED: Admission prices for next season.

A couple of quick points.

Davymac refers to the difficulties of parking at the Fortress, which is fair although the cost of parking on Saturdays at the station car park is just £1. I'll check in a minute whether that is mentioned on the "how to get here/there" page of the Official web-site. Perhaps the person who is employed to contact other clubs' web-sites in advance of their visit should refer to the availability of parking there, too.

Davy refers to the catering and the bar. I attended the AGM of the Supporters Club when it was announced that the chap who runs the burger van is to extend the catering concession and take over the running of the bar on a commercial basis next season in the light of the retirement of the Bar Manager and her husband. That decision was to be confirmed following a subsequent Board meeting of SACFC. The idea prompted various responsws from the floor, althougfh I didn't contribute. Has that, indeed, been confirmed, does anybody know?

The ticketting issue is a tough one. I had assumed that whilst we would sell more season tickets for our first season in the Conference Nationale, I felt that they would be bought by 'existing', semi-regular supporters, who would commit 'more' this year, rather than to newcomers. However, although it's too early to reach a conclusion, I was talking to the chap who used to drive the red tractor yesterday who said that of the first 15 applications received in the first post, 11 came from people he had never heard of, the majority of whom will be newcomers, presumably.

I really hope that the Board have got this one right. For me, I can't help thinking that there are other 'initiatives' that should be introduced, however. It seems to me that the Board have simply decided upon the price of admission on the basis of what they consider to be competitive and appropriate to the standard/level of football next season. I'm uncomfortable that various opportunities for marketing The Mighty Saints to attract more people through the turnstiles on the basis of the admission pricing are being missed.

Mind you, what do I know about anything.

One last thing. There is to be an increased price to sit in the main stand next season, and there are two different prices for season tickets accordingly. That means that two new operatives will need to be appointed at either end of the stand to collect £2 from each person who chooses to sit there on the day. I hope that they last the season and the system doesn't fall into dis-use part way through.

Just another small example of the very significant overall changes that have to made to match-day arrangements that are part of everyday life at the next level of the pyramid.

We wont recognise the place.
