AFF
And a last from me. Ian Ridley talked about making The Mighty Saints everybodys' second favourite team, and he meant those for whom the club is not their first team, of course. I'm going to digress, while the mood is upon me. I have a picture in my mind of Ian Ridley, who some of you may know is the Chief Football correspondent for the Mail on Sunday, being interviewed by the Sports Editor chap form the St Albans Observer. IR: "We've signed winger Andy Wild, formerly of Weymouth, Salisbury and Worcester". Sports Ed.: " Right! Saints Supremo Colin Lippiatt has landed Andy Wild?" IR: "Yep. Our strikers will benefit from his crossing ability." Sports Ed.: "Great! He's been recruited to supply the ammunition for the likes of Sozzo, Clarkey, Hakkers and Simon Martin?" IR.: "Give me the pencil and the notebook. Let me do it for you. Nobody writes like that". Anyway, where was I? Oh yes. Will the season ticket holders from Arsenal, Spurs, Watford, Chelsea, Luton, Stevenage etc. pay £12 + £2 + juniors etc. to come to Clarence Park when their 'first' team is away from home, I wonder? Some eejit suggested that, as an experiment, there should be some discount at the turnstiles for STHs of other clubs upon production of their tickets, of course. Perhaps for the first 5/6 games of the season. [Would a London Irish season-ticket qualify, I wonder?]
Zagreus
No, no - I didn't mean it as a dig! I simply meant because I've done something out of my own free will I don't really expect any reward for it. I would have done it whatever. I can imagine most people have done the same too! I just think it's 2+2 = 5, but I suppose as footie turns into just another commodity, loyality is rewarded so you stick with the same brand. I suppose People are coming to expect this - maybe? Rob_the_Saint
Instead of the free PSF, a better incentive would have been £2 off each 'pay on the gate' game for STH's. That way both the club and the STH's benefit.
JKiF
fair enough Zag. i guess what annoyed me is the offer of 1 free 'friendly'. the dual ST is good idea...would a First capital connect one count?
Electric ~soul~
They should do what most clubs do - chuck the first couple of home cup matches in for free. (I mean, of course, we all know it's not really free, but it keeps most people happy!)

eve
offer should have included all the psf in my opinion and a better discount for buying a season ticket early! im not on the st albans rich list either and the entry charge, programme, raffle tickets, golden goals, travel, 'food' (ha ha) drinks etc keep me poor week after week. got to support the team tho eh? That was my idea but Mr Gisbson seemed to think that people would buy season tickets for league clubs in order to gain cheap entry to the saints, which was very bizarre! Electric ~soul~
He-heh, excellent work! I remember Tom getting into Gravesend using his Private Health Insurance card once! The funniest bit was Tom showed him the card and even said "I'm Private Health, mate", and the turnstile operator just waved him through!! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Davymac55
Many of the fans who were featured in the programme last season mentioned the high price of tickets- in an earlier post i said that the prices were too high but hatboy highlights , i think, just how high- difficult choice for any potential new saints supporter-season ticket at Clarence park for £230 or Watford for £100 more? as i said previously, I thought the idea was to encourage, not discourage. We still have the issue of parking, particularly in Clarence road not to mention the great catering( excellent bar excluded). If things go pear shaped towards end of season, crowds will drop( and of course the reverse will apply). Better money in the bank and have a reasonable @fighting fund@.
