ANNOUNCED: Admission prices for next season.

The SAINTS have set admission and season ticket prices for their first season in the Nationwide Conference, seeking to strike a balance between financing a higher quality of football at the top level of the non-League game and maintaining affordability for fans.

Entry to the ground will now be £12, with a £2 transfer to seating. Gate entry for senior citizens will be £7, with a £1 transfer, and £4 for juniors.

This season, Saints will be playing more home matches – with 24 teams in the league – and season tickets represent, the club believes, excellent value.

Ground admission tickets will be £230 – working out at just £10 per game – with a reserved seat for the season costing £260.

The cost for senior citizens will be £125 for the season – less than £5.50 a game – and £140 for seating. In addition, there is a special deal for juniors of £50 for the season, working out at just over £2 a game.

For those who buy their season tickets before the end of June, there will be a bonus on top of the discount, with a season ticket giving free entry to one home friendly.

Saints have already announced attractive home games against League opposition in Barnet and Sheffield United, which are included in the scheme.

Says St Albans City chairman John Gibson: “We have frozen prices at Clarence Park for the last four years but now that we are playing at such a high level, our costs will inevitably rise and we also have to finance a bigger and higher quality squad to enable our manager Colin Lippiatt to compete with some big clubs, like Oxford United and Exeter City.

“We are sure fans will understand the need for the increases, which we believe are reasonable and represent good value for what we will be on offer next season.

"Even with the increases, we still expect to be among the cheapest in the Conference. Weymouth, who came up from Conference South with us, have already announced higher prices than ours.

"We were especially keen to keep prices as low as possible for senior citizens and the kids who represent our future support. The £50 season ticket for them should be particularly attractive.”

Season tickets go on sale at Clarence Park from next Monday. A form will be available on this website soon for you to complete and send in to the club with your payment.

A couple of points from me:

1. Please reserve a seat for me in the dug-out next to Colin Lippiatt. My cheque for £260 is in the post.

2. Can someone confirm the age qualification for 'juniors' please?

3. I think that over 65s should have to pay more rather than less for a season ticket as they don't pay tax and don't have a mortgage.

4. I assume that Alistair Campbell wrote that quote for Gibbo regarding frozen prices for the last four years as it's not strictly, one hundred and ten per cent, totally and completely, entirely and fully accurate.

I can see that point he was trying to make, but Alastair might be well advised to stop banging on about Weymouth.

Does over 50 count as 'senior'? I think £230 is a little bit high considering the friendlies and cup games are now 'pay on the gate'. I would have given a discount of say, £30, for early payment instead of one free friendly.

I would have gone to all the friendlies if they'd been included (and spent another £10-£15 in the ground) but now I probably will only go to the Barnet and Sheff U ones.

Hi Rob.

Excuse me for interferring but this might be worth a sticky for a couple of weeks.

[Not your post, valuable though your contribution might be. The thread itself.]

Are you over 50 this year, Rob? You look well on it. How do you get away with only £10-15 on match days? I wish I could. You should buy some of those Supporters Club raffle tickets, Golden Goal, Scratch cards tec. etc., mate.

Err... In the words of the very old, all-time favourite joke of all time:

"What do you mean "we", Paleface?"

It'll be announced on July 1st, Zealster. [that's after the season-ticket deal expires; £85 just to watch Spurs U8 'B' XI. They're 'avin a laugh.]

Yeah, it is a little on the high side, considering the price of a match ticket at Watford.

I don't know how much Luton or Barnet charge.

I've thought prices to be about £1-£2 too high for a few seasons now. I don't think anyone could complain at a tenner, but if you follow the Saints home and away, you're paying about £25 a week in admission prices over the first half of the season, when there are two games most weeks.

That's over £100 a month, before you start considering travel expenses etc. - a sizeable chunk out of a lot of people's wages.

Still - I'm guessing most of us are happy to pay a little bit more for Conference football, rather than stagnating in the Ryman/Conf South and a lower price.
