5 MORE GONE!!!

So therefore WW Jacko is a better player than our Club position. We can't even finish mid-table. Why discard him then? Personally I feel that he had an excellent season and overall in the top 3 players in our side. The Club are mad to let him leave. A decision I believe they will soon come to regret ( although I doubt that they will admit it).

One of the players recently discarded, told me that they worked a lot harder in training under Andy Ford than they ever have under his inferior replacement, and that they approached away games more professionally than they do now.I guess Daish just needs players that can train to fit in with his commuting between Havant and Northfleet, and save the inarticulate git from unsocial hours of work.

BBC website are quoting Liam saying that the club's current financial situation prevented him from keeping some of his more influential players.

"The club's made a decision to go full-time and that means full-time players.

"Those three lads couldn't give up their jobs and we can't afford to keep players on a part-time basis."

Three words: evening training sessions.

Interesting to compare these comments with those of Brian when the full-time transition was first announced:

Brian Kilcullen said:I must also stress that we will tread carefully in what is a major step and the change will be a transitional one. Our focus is to keep the hard core of the existing squad together and those that want to remain part-time will do so.

Am I missing something but it's been mentioned that Holloway is staying is that true? and I have difficulty in making it 7 players remaining (Mcdonald,2 Smiths,Moore and Slatter) that's 5.

Also anyone notice on BBC teletext that Andy Ford is being interviewed for the Stevenage vacancy.

FIVE MORE RELEASED

The club has now finalised its retained list for next season which means a further five players are to be released. Those players are Aaron Kerr, Ashley Fuller, Danny Glozier, Scott Gooding and Jimmy Jackson. Acting Chairman Jason Botley commented: “These are difficult times at the club but we are in a major transitional period, we have invested in the process of going full time and as a club we are committed to it. Life has been made more difficult at this time with a reduction in resources but the club does not have a deficit and will never spend money that it does not have”.

Manager Daish says: “Life has become more difficult than it might have been but it is my job to bring the players into the club that can buy us a bit of time as the new stadium project progresses and we find potential investors. I am sad to see any player go but it is particularly the case with Jimmy Jackson as he is a ‘Fleet’ man through and through. I would have tried everything within my means to keep him had he been able to fit into daytime training but unfortunately he is unable to do this. On behalf of everyone connected with the club I would like to express my sincere thanks to ‘Jacko’ for everything that he has done for the club, he is a consummate professional and has been a great ambassador for Kent football over a long period of time - we wish him every success for the future”.

On reflection, perhaps Daish means 'afford' in a pecuniary sense. That would certainly put an interesting twist on our concerns when the full-time move was first announced about whether the club was financially geared up for such a move...

I think you misread my post - It was a question, is he good enough to maintain a place in a mid table conference side ?

I tthink we should agree to disgree on the answer.

.....But WW in my opinion JJ is still more than capable of holding his place in a Conference team. If travelling/being part-time were not an issue, I would expect at least half a dozen other Conference sides being keen to sign him - and no transfer fee would be involved either.

  • 2 years later...

A timely reminder that all our close seasons have many ups and downs and thus this seasons wont all be down to MYFC. ( It is what happens) However this year we have the opportunity to really [****!!****] it up, if we don't work out who is the on the field decision maker pretty soon. Or at least find out a way of telling the moonies without upseting them and them and their money clearing off.

Also a timely reminder that that Wobbly fella don't half make some good posts.

And finally a reminder to all those that were behind the previous chairmans slowly slowly catchee monkey approach, of which I was one, was well and truly lead up the garden path.

Up the Fleet and still keeping loyal.
