5 MORE GONE!!!

Recommended Posts

Crikey. I thought things were bad before my computer broke. The club have rushed going full time, and unless Daish learns how to be a manager by taking lessons from Football Manager over the summer, we're in the ****.

7 players, no chairman, no sponsor, rubbish manager, no money.

But don't worry, as some people on here say...

Let's be positive! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

Daish cant use the "need 6 games to get a team going" crap anymore. If he brings in his ideal players availabel on budget. They train every single day , thei I want results. In the first 6 games he has to provide.

If not he has to go. Inept , tacticless, faceless a complete imbosyl who wants to play big boys games with little boys budgets

Hi WVN, we sceptics are damned if we post negative, and damned when proved correct.

I have learned to live with it.

I just want to see good new

from the club for a change, but it seems the board are fiddling while Romes is burning.

The walls are falling down around us, all but a few admit it, but nothing is being done.

the problem we have got is that whatever manager we have had we have always struggled to find new players of any quality, let alone the ten to thirteen that we need. i know players need to know what the arrangements are for next season but surely we could have kept the part time players on a monthly basis and changed them as and when something better came along (if it did)

I can honestly say iv'e never felt as depressed about the way our clubs playing side is being handled, and by the comments on this forum i'm not alone.

I agree David O it ought to be interesting to hear their thoughts, I can imagine there are a considerable amount of supporters who in the past have not doubted the club or the manager must be having second thoughts now.

What depressing news. So, day time training, the wonder panacea to cure all of our Club's ills, looks likely to have put paid to the Conference career of one of our best ever players. His commitment to the cause of all things Gravesend & Northfleet will be remembered long after those who rather cravenly decided he should go have well and truly been forgotten.

So who/what is to blame for this sad state of affairs? The Club are "committed to full time football" says Jason Botley. That Liam Daish wants to be the manager of a full time side should not be doubted. He has fought his corner to achieve this, but I doubt that he expected to have such a small budget available to him and to a degree he has talked himself into a corner. While he was unlucky with key injuries last season, his managerial style failed to spark the players to much success and must shoulder a big part of the blame.

If only the Club had been brave enough to admit that it didn't afterall have the necessary resources to go full time as fast as it has and wanted to suspend this plan, the supporters would think much more of those who administer our team and would be more inclined to fall in line. But a certain amount of fear of losing face will instead mean that in the main we will field a very young and inexperienced side next season. With a miracle we will cope and keep our place in the Conference. However I anticipate a struggle. L D doesn't strike me as being someone who can unearth this hidden talent to keep us up. I always look forward to the new season. I am full of concern for the year ahead.

Interestingly, L D is quoted as saying that he will need to bring in the players " that can buy us a bit of time as the new stadium project progresses". Exactly how long does he define " a bit of time" for Heaven's sake?Everyone knows this will take years to achieve! By that time we could be at Dartford's level or lower! Instead we should be consolidating our position as a Conference side and only go fully full time when we can afford it.All we are doing is signalling to other club's that we cannot actually sustain full time football yet.

The Club will always be bigger and ultimately more important to a true supporter than any one player. I consider myself to be a true supporter.I don't go watch other teams play. But tonight I feel that loyalty no longer counts for much at G&NFC because the Club have sacrificed its best players for a flawed and probably disasterous rush to be a full time side. Only time will tell whether it turns out that way. How many will still be on the terraces to witness this experiment remains to be seen.

What I will say is that I have always agreed with those on here who say that they will carry on going to games regardless of who's playing for us and who's in charge, because above all they support the Club. But right now I'm as close as I've ever been to disagreeing with this view.

And there endeth my defence for sodding off to West Ham on and off this season.

See you next season.

Probably out of step with most on here.

Jacko is rightly up there with the Fleet greats and should be worshipped accordingly, he is indeed a legend, and one gets close to Kenny Burrett as being my all time greatest Fleet player.

But even with my most rose tinted of glasses on, I would say best days were in the past, and no more than a bit part conference player now days. (IMHO) . yes I would still like him around as he is versatile and committed and a good squad player, but times change and its time to move on.

As I said last season if Jacko is the best answer we are coming to , we might just be asking the wrong questions.

In regards to loyalty, as fans we only have one way to show it. And that is by turning up. its easy to turn up thru the good times, but loyalty is shown by turning up when the going gets tough.

The club needs us all at the moment. Are we loyal enough .

If LD can get significantly better players than Glozier, McKimm, Drury, Saunders and Jacko in by the end of July then you will have won the debate. If however, their replacements turn out to be cheap(er) 18 year olds plucked from obscurity who are not up to scratch, I promise I will not gloat.

Glozier's an interesting one - personally, I thought he wasn't up to the task. Had the odd promising performance but was regularly out of his depth I felt, though I know a lot of people thought he could hold down the left-back spot.

Think most peple are too numb, especially at the news of Jacko's departue, to worry about point scoring in any debate, as no doubt you are too Gary.

Jason says the Club have made the decision to go full time & are committed to it but, with what appears to be a hugely reduced budget, what happens if we get relegated next season, with gates averaging under 700? How could we possibly remain full time the season after, even if the youngsters brought in have matured enough to suggest they could bounce straight back?

Still, I have already committed to a season ticket & there are 2 things to console me:

1 Logic. At least we won't go broke, providing Jason is telling the truth, when he says "the club does not have a deficit and will never spend money that it does not have.”

2. Blind hope. A couple of seasons back all looked lost as the first game approached. We'd lost Jacko & Bentley & released our forward line with no replacements brought in. We started abysmally, then suddenly up popped Victor, we strengthened the team & embarked on an epic unbeaten streak.

Yes, in my dreams, such a thing happening again, I know. But if we didn't dream how many of us would go at all?

That doesn't mean he's not still a perfectly competent Conference player though.

Resources-wise, as things stand, the Club can do little better than mid-table in the Conference. Since Jacko's still perfectly capable of holding down a first-team place in a mid-table Conference side, why should he not stay?

For someone claiming to consider Jacko possibly your all-time favourite Fleet player, this statement is somewhat disrespectful.

Don't think it is disrespectful at all. Looking back Jackos been a great servant to the club, but going forward maybe a change is required.

My point is, is he still able to hold down a position in a mid table conference team. That is where we differ on opinions.

can't go on forever. But that doesn't diminish the past.

I think everyone is getting a bit too touchy on here.
