LD's only crieria, it seems, for keeping players is that they can train during the day, doesn't it matter whether they are good enough anymore. He has released JJ to bring in some nobody in his place on full time wages when he could have kept JJ and for that matter more of the full timers like JS and paid them less. None of this is making sense.

You would have thought in the current climate that some sort of reassurance at least would be given. Maybe we should be resigning from the league like Canvey unless Daish has an impending seven signings up his sleeve!

Anyone want to join in:

10 red players siting on the wall

10 red players sitting on the wall

And if one red player should accidentally fall...

...there'll be nine red players left to play football...

Repeat until zero...

Well its shocking to see us down to seven players and have Jacko going. But i don't think Liam Daish is stupid enough to release all these players unless he actually has had to (ie we are in financial trouble)

or he has got 10 players up his sleeve.

Its all getting dodgy

Is this one of the email press releases? Mine hasn't arrived yet. At least I'll know not to expect good news when it comes.

Signing DS on again encourages me to think things are not as bad as your dad's scenario, but building a squad from what we have is going to be a hell of a task. All makes the Chris Moore & Lee Boylan stories look even more unlikely.

I lied. It was in my inbox all along. Have copied in the text below:

FIVE MORE RELEASED

The club has now finalised its retained list for next season which means a further five players are to be released. Those players are Aaron Kerr, Ashley Fuller, Danny Glozier, Scott Gooding and Jimmy Jackson. Acting Chairman Jason Botley commented: “These are difficult times at the club but we are in a major transitional period, we have invested in the process of going full time and as a club we are committed to it. Life has been made more difficult at this time with a reduction in resources but the club does not have a deficit and will never spend money that it does not have”.

Manager Daish says: “Life has become more difficult than it might have been but it is my job to bring the players into the club that can buy us a bit of time as the new stadium project progresses and we find potential investors. I am sad to see any player go but it is particularly the case with Jimmy Jackson as he is a ‘Fleet’ man through and through. I would have tried everything within my means to keep him had he been able to fit into daytime training but unfortunately he is unable to do this. On behalf of everyone connected with the club I would like to express my sincere thanks to ‘Jacko’ for everything that he has done for the club, he is a consummate professional and has been a great ambassador for Kent football over a long period of time - we wish him every success for the future”.

What total boll**ks

Surely we're not still going down the "full time" route are we even after seeing what a disaster it was this season!

We are cutting our budget and think we can get full time players at a lower price than quality part-timers like Jacko etc.

It's getting worse by the day !

The whole situation looks to be going from very bad to a downright disaster. Unless somethings going on that has yet to be announced.

Why go full-time if the club can't afford it, why go through the expense of having a full-time goalkeeper sitting on the bench all season, there are so many questions and so far nowhere near enough answers?

Makes the appointment of Daish even more questionable. Manager of unknown ability, gets probably the highest player budget in the clubs history all of which contributes towards what could prove to be a disasterous first season. A season that will prove to be a major lost opportunity.

I would have given anythng to have been proved wrong

But you predicted we would be relegated by Christmas when in fact we were safe from relegation by Christmas...so not too much call for smugness there then.

To use the excuse that Jimmy Jackson was unable to fit in with day-time training seems absurd. This may be the case *but* given his performances last season, scoring some vital goals and the commitment on the field he shows - they are the kind of qualities a team of inexperienced "youngsters" need - which seems to be what we will be getting next season.

He should have been kept on, on a part-time basis, even if it was just to warm the bench (which is unlikely).

I'm confident that just about everybody on this forum would agree about the need to keep Jimmy Jackson next season. You simply can't buy the kind of commitment he shows on the field. Its a big mistake in my opinion.
