MFC Signs ... Paull Abbott

Agree with SSS good signing, dont think he ever got a proper shot at proving him self last time he was with us.

Yiga was a good lad and its a shame we may not have him any more, but tbh he wasnt that great down the wing he was better tucked in more to the middle he was perhaps one of the most frustrating players to watch down the flanks.

Sorry to disagree with most but this isnt the kind of signing I was expecting. He did well here I agree when he was with us previously & he never really got a chance here but though he went up a notch to Heybridge I cant see this as an improvement.I dont think he has impressed much while he was with them.Wasnt he sub most of the time at Heybridge? I like the guy, dont get me wrong but it IS a backward step i.m.o. However as I mentioned the other day I am willing to give Trotty the benefit of the doubt with his signings so maybe Paul will prove me wrong & he can end up being a good asset to us in the end. Again time will tell but I cant help feeling slightly disappointed at this signing.I was looking for someone slighly classier(no disrespect to Paul)

Funny though this signing as I have just backed Pawel Abbot today to score first tonight for Huddersfied.Hope this is a good omen, not only for me but for the club.

Unless the club are prepared to back RT with a massive budget then we cant expect to sign six players on a big wage. If you look at the players that have been allowed to leave only Yiga, Allman & Edwards were really likely to be on anywhere near the sort of money we would need to pay to get class players. I've done the maths and it doesnt leave an awful lot spare unless the club have given more money on top which I hope they have if they expect promotion from a 1 year contract. I just hope that the budget is good enough.

Having just read through some reports from last season at Heybridge it does seem that Paul played more games than he was sub so I was a bit unfair there perhaps. However there wasnt much raving about him in any of those reports.

We'll see what happens.

Thing is though RT was at Heybridge for a while last season and obviously trained and played in the team with Abbott. RT must know what he is looking for and saw enough to want him at this club. With some good training Abbott always did have the potential to be a very good player, he's still young. I'm quite optimistic that RT can take everyone's games up a notch and PA is the sort of player who should respond well. Abbott doesnt seem to carry any baggage that a lot of players do.

I wasnt talking "class" in the way the you seem to have understood it to mean.

Maybe more "experienced" would have been a better word to use.No-one expects major players for major wages as I think we have our quota here already.
