A light -hearted posting. honestly.

As we are all fed up with the music that greets the players onto the pitch, and we do not appear to want cheer, cheer, here come the Fleet, (and I bought the CD last season)colud we have some amusing suggestions that have a relevence to the club.

I'll start with:

The Sound of Silence

Silence is Golden

Whispering grass (relating to the chinese whispers around)

I think that the group Madness could provide several alternatives.

Try these for starters;

1. Madness

2. Mistakes

3. The young and the old

4. Don't quote me on that

5. Embarrassment

6. Crying shame

7. Grey Day

8. Shut up

9. House of fun

10.Tomorrow's just another day

11.one second's thoughtlessness

12.The sun and the rain

13. One better day

14. Yesterday's men

15. Please dont go

16. It must be love

17. One step beyond.

Well, that's one for nearly every home game, there are others that could be adapted depending on who we're playing and how nasty you want to be.

One of these...

1. Cheer Cheer Here Come The Fleet

2. Kaiser Chiefs- I predict a Riot, let the boys run out as it kicks into the chorus

3. U2- Beautiful Day (might be a bit cliche though??)

4. Anything that has something in the song where it goes from nice and gentle into a heavy rhythym, and time it so it changes when the boys are running out!!

5. NOT the tune we have at the moment!! reminds me of a detective's show!!

Trouble is... If I remember rightly the music they come out to was chosen by the team?

I like "Cheer Cheer Here comes the Fleet," myself, because its ours and ours alone. (Who the Hell else would want it!) It was also a bit of a tradition.

I'm not over fussed about the others although "One Step Beyond by Madness is a possibility or failing that I could live with the idea of "The Post Horn Gallop."

But as for music when they score? FOR GODS SAKE NO!

My own preference is for "Cheer, cheer", because it is so unique, dreadful and because it is OURS.

Wasn't it absolutly brilliant to hear it booming around Villa Park to shell shocked Villa fans, who simply could not believe that a tiny, tin pot club like we were at the time could have our own tune.

Unforgettable until my dying day.
