Free season tickets for local junior schools

Boreham Wood are involved in giving free season tickets to local junior schools. Looks like a good scheme. However because of our lower capacity at the moment some sensible precautions would have to be in place. The only two occasions we could reach capacity would be AFCW and Ramsgate and only then if both sides are sitting near the top of the table I would imagine. Obviously FA Cup games would also be likely to sell out if we got a decent team at home. Even a League 2 side - we got 2500 at Dover for the Orient game. Excellent idea I think but then again you could say it is the big games which get you hooked so by leaving them off the free list you would be losing the pulling power. Worth a thought overall though I would think.

I will again ensure, that all children who go to Junior Schools in Borehamwood, Elstree and Shenley are offered our “free” Season Ticket for Schools scheme. This scheme gives “free” entry to all our home League games next Season in the Ryman Football League Premier Division. This proved popular with local families last Season and I’m keen to encourage that… application forms are now with all Junior Schools” he said.

Interesting idea, but with our limited capacity there is a danger of being too sucessful, albeit a slight one.

But I think that there will be a romance about our next season, and a bandwagon to jump on, and we will get better gates than last year.

Maybe if the gates start to flag when the cold weather hits is the time to think about this - if I read the situation with the team and Trotty's style right I think we will be attracting good gates from the start.

Good thinking MF. I think the opportunity is too good to pass up and should be put in place at some point whether sometime next season or the year after. Maybe when we have the new stadium is the time as then there would be no danger of it being too successful. At that stage if we can get people interested they are more likely to stay on board with the facilities they can enjoy.

Thank you RK. As I have said before, reaching the children is the only way forward in getting more people to attend matches.

RK can I ask a question? Of those 120 kids how many are now full Charlton fans that werent before?

As I have said before, attract an adult he will come alone, attract a kid & he will bring an adult.

If MFC allocated 100 seats per match to local schools & 200 for the kids go free scheme(100 free & 100 paying), they will have lost 200 pounds per match but gained 800 from the accompanying adult.

But also more importantly, they would have filled 300 extra seats, improved local relations & started to promote MFC in the community.

Thank you RK.

So why cant we promote our club to the children locally? If it means we loose how ever many one pound entrance fees, we are achieving 2 things:

1: By stipulating that children have to be accompanied by a paying adult (after the free school visit) we are loosing a pound but gaining 8 pounds for the paying adult.

2: Also creating the fans for tomorrow. Which can only be a good thing?

I knkow I go on about this, but I feel that it is desperately needed for the team & club to move forward & proper.
