Easy tiger! - whose mentioned anything about booing them?

I wasn't aiming that comment at anyone specific, I just feel that some fans, (not necessarily those on here) might find it easy to assume that players left Canvey for Chelmsford, (or other Clubs) to follow the money.

Narrow minded people may think that all Chelmsford's ex-Canvey players might be on mega-bucks and feel that they weren't loyal enough to Canvey after all this trouble.

As Greggs said above, there are many contributing factors as to why a player may end up at one Club or another and it's a tough decision to make. I understand that JK's move to Histon was because he lives near there and his Cousin is their Striker, Neil Kennedy. He's taken a pay-cut to continue playing at the highest possible level. I feel a few ex-Gulls could well do the same.

I suppose we are in a tricky position with regards to wages / salarys

Apparently 90% of the players wages were paid out of Jeff Kings pocket..

The money the club made on gates / sponsorships etc was used for the run of the meal bills and day to day runnin g of the club

Im sure the new commitee will do there best to set a realistic budget. I reckon 3k a week would be the most?

We took minimum of 60-70 everywhere (took 200 to AFC Wimbledon) although we were having a pretty dire season - after two successive relegations we managed to flirt with relegation again last season and only saved ourselves with a five game unbeaten run at the end. If we are doing well I dont see why we wont bring 100. We have been known to take 300 to Burton before when we won the Southern League so if its at the end of the season it could be quite a turnout if we are up there. Lets hope so

In the Conf National some clubs brought upto 150 -200. However, others, due to distance, size of club and league position brought 50 or 60.

I think Canvey averaged a hardcore 50-60 for away games nationally. However, I think this may actually increase as the games are far more local in the Ryman Prem - far easier to get to Margate for a day by the seaside than Morecambe!

I think there will be some good gates next season with Wimbledon, Chemsford, Billericay, Margate etc.

Not sure how we will fair although if we start well we may maintain the current crowds that we are getting. I reckon anywhere between 350 to 500 for home and 80 to 150 away depending upon the opposition and how we are performing. Bit of a lottery guess I suppose

Greggors,

I understand your reasons for holding back on any decisions yet. I am not on here to pressure you but just to say that all of us here at Canvey would love for you to stay and that we think that you are a real legend here.

I know that you have to look after yourself financially. But if your situation turns out to be ok, please consider staying here because i would like to think that the memories from the last 6 years would inspire you to be involved in another 6 where this club could rise again and have those glory days back.

That goal against Gravesend at their place when we should have gone up.

certainly. leon gordon and jay curran are both very capable of scoring goals at that level. others that will stand out will be mitchell lowes, lee jay, westy. they are all more than capable of stepping up. the most impressive thing about them is that they are willing to listen and learn and if they continue to do that they will be ok. of that im sure

Would love to see you stay, Greggors but obviously you have a family to support and of course they're your number one priority.

Whatever you decide to do all the best for the future and thanks for the memories.
