Something Borrowed...

Recommended Posts

With the season's conclusion but a police escort, a flare and ejections away from a true SACFC cup tie, the honour of being the highest placed part-time side, and the subsequent promotion to the highest tier of non-league football, illustrates what a magnificent season the Saints have had. Second place in the league, with the most clean sheets kept and most goals scored, represents real progress for a team languishing at the foot of the table last season; a team that would not have been in the Conference South had events at Bedford two years ago not swung, just, in their favour. And the good news is, the best is still to come. Promotion to the Football Conference for the first ever time in their history, thanks to the club's best league placing since the glory days of 1992, bears testament to the sterling work done by Roddis and Lippiatt in particular, and whilst there is no doubt next season can already be described as challenging (three months before the first ball is kicked), it is a season that every Saints fan will be looking forward to with great anticipation.
