SAINTS SET TO SHARPEN BLADES

PREMIERSHIP new boys Sheffield United are coming to Clarence Park for a prestige pre-season friendly.

 

Blades manager Neil Warnock has promised to bring a strong side for the match against Saints on Saturday August 5th, kick-off 3pm.

 

It will be a meeting of two sides who have just enjoyed exceptional seasons, with United finishing runners-up to Reading in the Championship, and City pushing Weymouth all the way to the Nationwide South title, before beating Histon in the play-off final to claim their place in the Conference.

 

And it should be an attractive game, with the Blades featuring a host of quality players, including the player voted the Championship's best last season in Phil Jagielka.

 

For local fans, there could also be the chance to see Danny Webber, who had a spell on loan at Watford from Manchester United.

 

Behind the scenes, City staff are also working on bringing other quality League opposition to Clarence Park for pre-season games to celebrate promotion to the club's highest-ever level.

Premiership starts on 19 August so it will be one of the last games before the season starts and after the come back from China.
