Local Pub Team - New signing - "Not so local"

Recommended Posts

Ramsgate F.C. have just signed WARREN WAUGH,a 25 yr old striker from Leatherhead.Warren started off with Exeter as a YTS then spent a year there as a pro' before moving on to Cam.City,Crawley & Carshalton.

--------------------------------------------------

Seems the club & their local pub team are seeing the need NOT to be so local from here on end. Common sense is prevailing over there it seems. Is this the first of many? Is that championship winning team "the best pub team in Thanet" beginning the change over ready for the upgrade.

(Replies from Rams fans will follow no doubt) all 3 or 4 of them.

Warren Waugh

Real name Warren Waugh

Height 6.00

Weight 12.02

Date of birth 09-10-1980

Place of birth LONDON

Position Forward

N.B. A Londoner!!!

All credit to the manager for "feeling the need"!

Leatherhead fans seemed to rate him??? Good signing then??

Quote "

The lads behind the goal used to sing

"Waugh. Huh. What is he good for? Absolutely nothing." Unquote

To be fair they also stated that he had improved since those days so shouldnt be too critical <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Did you read the Times today. Big Jim said there no more money for wages. He wasn't going to beg anyone to resign and if they wanted to go the grass is always greener and for an Extra £20 quid they were welcome. If they are good? there are a lot of clubs out there paying a lot more than £20 quid. I do hope they do well but i think this league is going to need a steeper learning curve than the last.

I think having a few non local players is fine if they are good quality. The problem comes when you have lots from outside the area who are just not good or committed enough.

Credit where its due the Rams had a great season but for the Gate it was another poor season.

Hopefully RT will give the club a boost and also look at signing young hungry players who will be ambitious

Firstly,Alex your point is exactly the point I was trying to make with my first initial post. They were all against bringing in outsiders but now it seems they have come to their senses.

Secondly, thank you the Ramsgate 2/4 for replying. Was a gifted invitaton & you both took me up on it.Nice to know that we at least are keeping your minds active now that you've got your heads out of cloud nine.

Concerning local players against poor quality out of area players there is know question but, we are not talking of that quality in the 2006/7 season. "Rayw", how many of the Rams cream of local talent do you think could play at Conference south or Conference national level.

I have not seen Ramsgate so difficult to comment accurately on their 'player quality',but in fairness to them, i think many were making same comment about their players last season and jump from Kent League to Ryman.

Maybe just maybe, they do have latent talent, and good coaches, and they will grow in stature and quality, alongside their apparent work and team ethic, all the way up the divisions. !!!

Will be glad when we can start discussing Margate players again !!

Theres no obsession JJ. Its "banter" & discussion on "A" subject. They are our neighbours & rivals & I see no harm in discussing their club occasionally.

Its just another topic for converstation & debate thats all!

While we're at it whats your obssession with days in history?
