We didn't exactly score goals for fun after Christmas. If the current players couldn't hack it last season what makes you think they will be any better next season?

Score goals? Is that what football is about? I am 13 and I know that it is not about just scoring goals

No it doesnt hurt and im not trying to start an argument, its just some healthy debate, any way, no it doesnt hurt, but you dont have to score goals to be a great footballer, to be a great striker you have to score goals., but its not all about scoring goals?

No it's not, but it stops us from losing and drawing, gets us a higher position in the league table and causes more people to come watch us.

 

It's not the only thing and is nothing without a solid defence, but in the end goals are the things that people come to see. I think it showed this season when our main goalscorer was injured and our league position dropped like a brick.

 

Now I'm in no way a doom mongering naysayer, nor am I saying that everything is peachy, but I think a lot of the things that are wrong right now are readily apparent and maybe some of them can be fixed or addressed to the satisfaction of a lot of the fans to the point where more season tickets are sold and word of mouth is better, because lets face it, Word of mouth is at a low right now and we could do with every penny we can muster right now.

 

That was a long sentence.

Whoever is right, I think it's ever so sad that something like results, injuries or league position has any affect on attendance at all.

 

Is there anything that will get more people through the gates other than good results? Dunno really.

 

I was at the last game, and I'll be at the next, league position or even what league we're in has nothing to do with why I'm there, I just wanna see the Fleet play. Unfortunately in the last few weeks quite a few supporters who feel exacly the same way as this have been knocking heads with each other on here and there's no need. We all feel the same way about the Fleet or we'd be off spending our time doing something better than this lol.

 

I fear for the new season, not happy with some of the team that we've lost or may lose, some of which were Fleet through and through, but even after the last few months, I'm ok with our league position as a whole. Weve been through a transition and are still in the Conference which is something that some other teams in a similar position to us would gladly take right now I think. I can't say that I'm overly optimistic that LD can get in the players we need for the new season, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, at least until September lol.

I think that with Gravesend for some people it is a matter of whether people have time to go down to watch them, which I find ennoying, but people have different things to do I suppose.

 

And when it comes to LD i have alot of faith in him as manager, lets just see what happens in the first part of the coming season. Should be interesting?

exactly. Of course it's not all about scoring goals. But goals are definitley important. Rawle and Moore scored a goal each last season? We definitley need Charlie back.
