New stadium.

Hornet

Think we can forget the mid-may deadline Hornet. Another year at our temporay home looks long odds on. Lets hope that this is the FINAL year before the stadium comes about.

Margate Martian, that says it all,Cookie is not far off,I think it is of most importance to get the players we want to get us out of this league more than a new stadium, lets face it our ground at the moment is a lot better than most.

Thats all well and good but remember why we were relegated in the first place, the ground will not be up to conference standard if we do well over the next two seasons.

I thought I heard mention of May 16th somewhere, maybe something is on the cards.

The club said mid-may, it's still the beginning so you never know.

But our ground is heaps better than some I have visited this last season, so if that is what we have for next, I am not complaining. Home is home.

My view is that i hope it is slightly delayed ,so we know with certainty we are starting season at HDP wih no last minute hassles over geting ground ready.

Assuming plannng does come through over summer, why not start development in Feb 2007.

Gives longer to prepare ground/pitch for 2007/8 season.

we will only have about 7/8 home fixtures left so surely we could ground share for 7/8 games only, and it may just be that some clubs if league allow, may switch home /away fixtures and that way, there may only be about 6 games to groundshare over.

Our crowds in Feb/March won't be brilliant anyway, so we would not be losing out too much

MM but surely we should be in a play off hunt at the very least at that crucial time. I can't see us not being in contention. I believe we should stay at Hartsdown no matter what. Pitch can be laid by mid June and will settle in 2 months. Just means we would have to play friendlies away again but thats no disadvantage with Trotty's contacts. Sure he could fix us up at friendly on a good surface like Stevenage or something if we needed to.

[color:"blue"]Can't see us playing away @ Stevenage or the like, the 'protocol' for friendlies is generally the lower placed team is the host & the visitors are the senior side - the only exception normally being two teams in parallel leagues (ie:Southern & Ryman League teams against each other), or an invitation tournament (something like a Kent Non League knockout tournament hosted by Gravesend).

That'd mean friendlies at places like Dover, Ashford & Chatham again.

would the ground as it is be good enough to get us into coference south? If not it would't really matter if we were in a promotion position as we would not be allowed to go up anyway. just think what that would do for the morale of the players and the supporters. IMO the ground has got to be at least started this coming season or it could be the beginning of the end.

[color:"blue"]I'd have thought the temporary facilities we enjoyed last season would match Conf.South criteria .. the only sticking point may be the designated capcity (but as pointed out in another thread we beat Conf.South attendances (except for Weymouth) last season.

The above being based on some of the grounds we visited whilst in that League.

The sooner the ground is done, the better.
I think the crowds would be a lot better if the ground is. Friends i spoke to were not impressed by the ground last year it put them off. I dont know how many other people were put off as well.
At the level the club is its not too bad but Margate have much higher ambition and the ground should be signalling that ambition.

It makes no difference if we start building work this summer or next summer as it will be a rush to get the ground ready, so personally i would like to see us groundshare up until October-November time maybe this year or next year so there is no pressure on the contractors, which may cause some of the completed stands to falter. Sorry about saying about groundsharing for a few months but it is better then a few years.

If the stadium DID begin almost immediately it would mean only a handful, sorry half a handful of games being played on a groundshare basis at Southwood. This was pointed out at the meeting by KP.If the ground ISNT started before next season then groundsharing dosent come into it in any way whatsoever.

So the Club is going to seek permission from the Ryman ( planning permission pending ) to play the last quarter of the season "away". Question is where? Why should Ramsgate assist us. Besides what happens if both clubs are fighting for a play-off place? If it isn't Ramsgate, is Herne Bay a possibilty?
