Question for the Supporters Club?

Recommended Posts

In olden days Webbo, such a post would have received a response from someone saying "Great idea mate! Which 30 minute shift can we put you down for?".

Whether or not that's a fair response, it's not terribly constructive, of course.

But your comment and that response should serve to highlight the need for a well-supported Committee of an active and thriving Supporters Club at whatever level of Non League football and, most certainly, at the highest level, what we will be playing in next season, The Conference.

This thought occurred to me, which I will share with you. Set on one side every other additional expense that the club will face next season and just consider these two. Firstly, we must have [and pay for] a Fourth Official at home games next season, with that rather neat electronic board thingy. Secondly, there will be a number of away games, not all, of course, where to give the team a fair chance on the pitch, we will have to arrange an overnight stay for t'lads.

I suspect that the Supporters Club Committee have done another great job in fund raising this last season, the details of which will be confirmed at the AGM on Thursday evening no doubt. Here's the thought: I guess that however much money they have raised, 60% of it would be required to meet just those two items of expenditure next season. And those are ADDITIONAL expenses that we have not had before.

I'll see you at the AGM on Thursday evening, Webbo. 7.30 kick-off in the clubhouse.

If you're not there, I'll put you forward for election to t'Committee. The "Good Ideas" portfolio, mate!

Oxford United, Stevenage Borough. Morecambe. York City. Nationwide Conference corner flags. Two goals and nets [rather than four]. Segregation. Pukka pies. Motorcycle outriders for the convoy of coaches into Halifax. Stewards.

It's still only 11 a side, and the team that scores the most goals wins.

'Corporate' eh, Webbo? You'll pick up some more good ideas, there, mate.

Perhaps we should put you forward to take control of the prawn sandwiches side of things at t'club. And silver service required, according to Rob. Do you know how to fold napkins?

Is every Conference club guaranteed at least one SKY match.

No, a fair few teams have not been shown live. They tend to favour Exeter, Hereford, Morecambe and especially Stevenage.
