Official Statement Needed NOW!

I am sick to death of hearing all the recent news come from the Press or other Clubs.

Tonight, the former Canvey Island management team look almost certainly set to be confirmed as the new Chelmsford City management team. Yet the way it looks from our side is that we still have the entire squad and backroom team that finished our Conference campaign.

There is nothing about Jeff and Glenn resigning, nothing about John Batch being appointed, nothing about where our First XI squad are currently situated, who's been released nor who from the Reserves have been promoted.

Glen's doing a great job keeping everyone updated as much as he can, but like he himself has admitted, he's just the middle man. Who will be updating our Official site now Keith and Wayne are no longer 'employed'?

There has been nothing on the Offical site for a week now, (I'm not blaming you Wayno for that! ) concerning any aspect of our Club, which frankly I do not find good enough. It's not hard to string a paragraph or two together and put it on there. At least we will have some sense of closure.

A bit of a rant here, sorry, but I'm sure others would like to know where we officially stand from now on and until next season.

I'm off out, I hope when I get back later tonight some things will be clearer.

sorry "eggy" but I totally agree with Matt. . . fans of Canvey Island football club are entitled to know whats going on via an official announcement. . . all we are getting now are opinions of the few people that use this site.

lets hope the whole saga is sorted soon and we all know our future.

it is true that the fans that dont look on this discusion board (of which there are hundreds) will know absolutely nothing. but then when has the club ever been forward with giving information.

I've spoken to quite a few people recently at my kids fotball clubs and training who know I watch Canvey.

All of them seem to have the impression that Canvey have gone bust or will not be playing next season. Presumably these impressions have been obtained from glancing at the local papers as they scan through for West Ham or Southend articles.

It's worrying that people are not being informed correctly or at the very least they are not aware that we will be playing next season. Confusion seems to reign.

I also agree with Matt ( not with the ranting) about the lack of official communications from the club. As it appears that the official web site now no longer seems to be functional ( again no offence to Wayne who always did a decent job), is it time to set up a newer, improved website that will actually inform all the CIFC fans about what is going on, when it is going on etc.

At the risk of being shouted down or generally screamed at or abused I wouldn't mind seeing the "old" unofficial website rejuvenated as that was always a mine of up to date information.

Why not?

Merv, i think this is a good idea as we are not going to be run like a dictatorship anymore. Plus, i don't think anyone wants to let it be that way anymore either.

So how about it? It will give us something to do in the summer instead of hoping something will pop up on here or that useless'officail' site.

Whilst I wouldn't mind the Official site continuing as Glen said it makes a profit, it does seem dorment at the moment. Hopefully if/when it's signed over to the new company this won't be the case and we may have to have our wicked way with it

People at my school say the same and keep laughing at me saying its about time I support a 'real' team because the one you support at the moment is folding. I try telling them its not but they say that the newspaper say it is. We must not let them think this otherwise there will be no fan base at all!

Which school is that Charlie?

If the general opinion is that a Club has folded, I think this Summer, once we know which league we're in could be the perfect oppertunity for an island wide publicity campaign. I wonder if any of the new players would be willing to make guest appearances in schools and various public places for a bit of promoting and tell them what a Club they do have.

A meet the players day at Park Lane is something I thought we could've done for years. At least we could put faces to the names we'll be cheering on next season.

If we had some serious money what I wouldn't mind doing is asking First Buses if they could re-spray one of their number 22 buses that goes from Canvey to Lakeside via Basildon in Club colours much like Southend have with their Arriva bus. Jumping the gun a bit I know, but that would look so cool!

Going through Basildon I'm suprised they haven't been resprayed already!

Seriously though thats a great idea Matt, although I would have thought it expensive.

Would cost a small fortune I guess as it's blatant advertising. Perhaps all the boy racers around the area could club together to soup up a bus instead of their Novas and Corsas!

Sod it, lets respray all the buses in the bus museum - they look like they could do with a lick of paint. Yellow and Blue would suit them!

I wonder if it would be possible for the Carnival to be resurrected this Summer? I was always astonished that we never put a float in - Concord Rangers Youth did for a few years I remember.

Speaking of Yellow & Blue, any news on next season's kit(s)? I presume we'll still have Batch's company to thank for supplying them?
