Bowry gone

Recommended Posts

I'm not pro or anti either, and to be honest I fully expected most of those released to go anyway, so it's no great surprise... while still a big loss. I'm worried about Jacko, Holloway and Slatter as well, and I think Daish has a big test on his hands getting new players in.

But then I imagine he's not so daft as to get rid of these players without an idea of replacements... anti-Daishers don't answer that!

Maybe the "Pro LD boys" (as you call them !) are just bored out of their 'kin skulls with reading the same old s*it from your little "gang" and thus have lost the will to live ?

However, "interesting" times currently.....we await the outcome with even more interest !

I trust that you will be convening a lynch mob in the Plough soon ? Were you King Carlos ?

Cheers,

Quite the opposite.
I applaud Liam for the culling, as the results for the last 3/4 months suggest the current squad wasn't up to much.

However, that applause will quickly disappear if the replacements are not good enough!

Polarising people who objected to the relentless negativity of some posters as "the pro LD boys" is a tad simplistic, as some of us tried to point out.

Along with many others, I suspect, I'm undecided as to what this means. I'd be a liar if I didn't admit that part of me is very very worried. Another side holds onto the positive comments about the future made by Brian when talking about the work he would now be doing for the club. There was also a very recent comment from many people's bogey man, LD himself, that there are exciting times ahead for this club. Maybe they know something. Then again, maybe I'm just a gullible old twat to even consider this.

Anyway, best wishes to those who have gone & those who will surely follow. Especially, as far as today's news stands, Justin & Steve - both of whom joined the Fleet Trust on the day it was formed, I believe.

Pro Gravesend and Northfleet I think you'll find.

I am dissapointed but not surprised at Skins departure and a little surprised at Jay being released. Bowry looked good when we were on top but not when we struggled, Drury didn't impress this season but should be good enough for Welling, Macca (Thurrock bound?) wasn't being picked even when we were short.
Good luck and thanks to all of them particularly Skins and Macca.

Jay and Drury and Macca will be a big loss, but it was expected, nevertheless this is a major worry, I am afraid I haven't a lot of faith in LD's ability to find suitable replacements, sorry but that's my opinion, but I would love it if he proved myself and all the other doubters wrong.

He has a major job to do this close season, i'm sure he knows it, with the lack of finances I really don't see how we can compete in the transfer market.

I am genuinely concerned for next season, we are making steady progress off field but seem to be going in the opposite direction on it.

Since when have we ever competed in the transfer market?
Last years player of the season Ross Smith didn't cost a penny.
The year befores Jay Saunders didn't cost a penny.
The year befores Chris Moore didn't cost a penny.
The year befores Mark Bentley didn't cost a penny.

In recent years, as far as I am aware, we have only paid transfer fees for Roy Essandoh, Jamie Smith and Danny Slatter?

So another year of transition awaits us then, the list of players leaving or going to leave grows almost daily. From the embarrassment of finding out that one of our players was leaving by first reading it on another teams web site, Bromley and Bowry, we now hear that as well as Bowry, Skinner, Drury, McKimm, Saunders & Rawle are also going. Add to them the ending of the loan deals for Watkins & Johnson and the disappearance of Sodje, our squad is beginning to look a little threadbare. Then there are the rumours about McCarthy and Jackson, Thurrock & Welling if they are to be believed. I'm not going to lie and say that I will be sorry to see all of these players leaving but I hope the manager has some ready made replacements lined up. I would like to wish good luck to Skinner and Macca. We now have to look forward to next season and get behind the management team and hope the board give them as much support as is required. This could be make or break, an extra couple of home league games, a cup run, we are looking for extra finance, oh and some players. Up the Fleet

A little threadbare??? thats an under statement. The playing squad was threadbare for most of last season!

Look forward to next season with a team of inexperienced loan players, former Kent League players or even kids from the Gravesend League.

One of the reasons Daish was given the job in the first places, as was reported widely, was because of his contacts within the game. Last season, going by many of the players he bought in, those contacts didn't amount to much...now is the time for him to prove me and the other doubters wrong and use his contacts to find suitable replacements (ie. better players) for those that are set to leave Stonebridge Road.

I've even bought a pair of rose tinted glasses in the hope that I would view things in a different light. I have to say even with new glasses things look pretty desperate.

Most of those players found by AF (apart of course for Ross-Smith), I agree we have always had money problems ( not enough of it), but we also had a manager with a good eye for young talent.

For LD it's make or break this coming season and it's not the best scenario at the moment.

Why on earth has Daish retained McCarthy?

Without any doubt he has the experience..........but he is too slow, injury prone and worst of all has let the club and his fellow players down on the two occasions when he was red carded for ridiculous sending off offences.

Whilst some of the names on the 'released' list are surprising, the more worrying aspect is the names not on the list and therefore one can assume are to be retained by the club, but have yet to commit to anyform of contract extension for next season.

But that's not necessarily the final list. Rumour had it McCarthy was retiring, though might be wrong as I imagine he'd have been on the released list if so.

I think you've nicked my specs, by the way, WVN. Give 'em back, you thief!

Stay or leave, we just need the retained list declared asap, so that LD can budget for and start to rebuild the squad.

We do not need the fiasco of seasons past where we still do not have a fully contracted team by pre-season friendly time.

By that time the squad needs to be bonding and gelling as a unit.

Boylan does not want to play full time.
Even if we could afford him, that alone would probably prevent him from signing.

I thought that, but seeing as his aim is to join a League Club, I wonder if he could be pursuaded otherwise?

The club didn't say there was a fee for Slatter.
