Bowry gone

Recommended Posts

Bobby Bowry has agreed to join Ryman Premier League club Bromley from Nationwide Conference side Gravesend & Northfleet as player-coach.

”Bobby will bring valuable experience to Bromley’s midfield having made over 350 appearances during a professional career that saw him play for Crystal Palace, Millwall and Colchester United.

”He will also have an important role alongside Murray Jones as part of Bromley’s new-look management/coaching team,” said at statement on www.bromleyfc.net

Will Bobby be the first of a number of full timers to leave? I fear yes. When all of the part-timers have left as well we will look very inexperienced.

LD has a lot to do as clubs are already looking to sign the best players available.

The clock is already ticking towards the new season.

You had to love the way that Bobby could get the ball to his feet, hold it and find the next man in space whilst appearing so confident. That's how you play football. The midfield will miss him. I guess the opportunity for coaching was a major factor in his decision to go.

If the stories about the part timers leaving are true, then we will have a serious midfield problem now tha BB has gone.

No conference club can afford to lose experienced players such as Protheroe, Jay, Jacko, Bowry and McKimm in one hit.

Even with a bucket of cash they would be difficult to replace.

I await a magician with a magic wand. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

It's purely speculation at present.

His performances all through the season just gone didn't really suggest this, did they?

Bobby will be a big loss - thanks to him for his highly consistent displays, and his willingness to lead the applause for the travelling Fleet supporter contingent. Best of luck to him at Bromley.

Of those whose futures are still unclear, it's particularly important that we get Jay, Jacko and Craig signed up. If most or all of these depart, the rebuilding process is going to be very tricky indeed.

You have misunderstood my post, JC. From the terrace he performed admirably, from his personal viewpoint, he may have felt his legs had "gone" - especially after 80 mins of each game, which is evidenced by his many late game substitutions.

He was one of my players of the season, but at 33 he probably felt his future career lay in coaching/management, and an appointment at Bromley was an opporunity that could not be turned down.

Just think though, this happens every year, most of our players clear out, and then we get other players to accomidate those positions, but this time I dont think we will be able to get the kind of players we got in for the season just gone.....

Yeah it is pretty serious this year, and just thinking about it I am starting to worry now seem as though players are leaving us that were with us for years, not including Bobby, but all the other years it was players that had only been with us for that season.
