Do not forget the club are in the process of employing a community liaison officer who's job will be to go out into the community and do just this type of work.

Be good to see a promotion season at Hartsdown.

A more succesful and attacking side would defintely pull in big crowds of well over 1,000 i would think.

But will the ground be up to it?

A lot of people in Thanet would like to see the club do well. Not too many are regulars though but if the club were winning regularly and maybe had a few good local players, intereset could really take off.

[color:"blue"]The only way to keep the gates high is to provide the product on the pitch. This last season, with the exception of the Fisher game, we just didn't perform in August/September & the numbers gradually dwindled.

The Club & the Supporters (the Carnival & Poster efforts were fan initiatives & great successes) did well to get 1280 against Maldon, but failed to perform against Redbridge in front of 1010 then failed to get 1000 through the gates again.

If we can get close to 1000 in our first match & play the first dozen games in the same manner as we played the last five under the guidance of Trotty then we'll have the 'floating' supporters hooked as the colder winter matches approach.

I wondered what you were on about in a previous post BB. Now I know. Will be amongst one of the best moves the club will have made if this comes about.

In terms of getting kids involved, I remember a few seasons back, vouchers were given out at primary schools and it entitled free entrance to a selected game, and obviously they would have brought a parent with them. There were a number that used this offer too and I'm sure some would have returned to subsequent games, so this scheme has been successful in the past.

For the scheme to work it has to be constant. The idea is to get the adult+child to return repeatedly.

If you have managed to get 10 perminant adult fans to come to every home match it wil have cost the club 210 pounds, yet have brought in 1,680 pounds (based on 21 home games a year) an increase of 1,470 pounds p.a.

OK it isnt alot of money, but its a months wages for a player covered that wasnt before. Plus Im sure it would attract more than 10 paying fans.

This doesnt take into account refreshments & merchandising.

Yes we need a winning team to attract more fans, that goes without saying. But raising the profile of the club is as important in my opinion. Exeter are constantly on the back pages of the local paper, every match is covered by local radio & television, all which keeps them in the public eye.

Agreed Scrat and would also say that if we can get these tickets to as many NEW fans (primary school kids is the obvious one) as possible we can be sure that although they are getting in for free they are highly likely to spend money in the ground. There are seats and spaces which might as well be taken.

We all know that any cut price tickets will have to be offered by the club. Its ultimately down to them to agree on something like this, whether it be for adults or for children. I know the problems I had when I asked before. If you are looking in Keith how about at least giving the school kids a break. Am sure,as others have said that it would increase turnover not nessasarily with gate reciepts from them but from the adults that may follow on with them. This has been mentioned above a few times. They would spend indside the ground too but most of all it will encourage the players even more. These kids probably wouldnt have come anyway so nothings lost.In fact there is everything to gain from such a gesture.Get it plastered over the local papers & advertised on the radio.

As I originally said, maybe someone from MFC should talk to someone from Exeter FC to get more details, but the kids go free offer has really bolstered attendance & financies.

Surely its better to earn a 8 quid gate reciept & get 2 extra bums, than have the seats sat there empty?

Plus if you get kids on board at a young age, they will be the fans of tomorrow, or possibly the players of tomrrow?
