Baring in mind that a lot of Southend "fans" will not be able to get tickets next year, that may well benefit us.

 

The £7 figure was quoted as an estimation to the Southern League East, if we went ESL (which is our last choice) then this figure would drop accordingly.

Next season, who will the extra 10k from the Gavin Cowan transfer go to? He only has 5 more appearances to make for Shrewsbury before they have to cough up again.

Hey, Mob, you're (hopefully) still in a better situation than we were when we sold the likes of Iain Dowie (amongst others) on to league sides without any proper sell on fee or appearance clause that would actually earn us any cash! In fairness, the secretary at that time admitted his mistakes, but it doesn't really help financially or right now! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

 

As for what level you play at (which does have a direct effect on us!), I believe that on our gates with our other predicted income streams in the short term, we could achieve a relatively succesful side at step four (Isthmian One) or a pretty unsuccessful side at step three. You guys have an advantage here where with larger gates at present you could easily outdo us in that sense if utilised well. although in fairness we've been preparing for longer and may well be better prepared for the situation. Even so, I'm not convinced that in theory Isthmian Premier isn't achievable in at least the mid-term if not immediately.

 

If someone like Glen wants to contact me (my e-mail address is floating around the internet, particularly on the FWP forums), I'd be more than willing to give more detail and help privately, but for obvious reasons I don't want to go into any more depth up front on our situation or plans!

 

Certainly at least mid-term, I don't see why Canvey FC with current gates and potential income streams can't succeed in the Ryman Premier at present, even if in the short term it can't be achieved for 2006/7.

 

God! I seem to be arguing for my own side's relegation right now!

Southend in the Championship doesn't guarantee top quality football, they could see some serious defeats next season. As from Championship to Premiership, there is quite a step up in class from league 1 to Championship.
They have gone up two divisions but believe there wasn’t much difference in quality between leagues 1 & 2.
Sure Tilly will give it a go, but there could be a big correction for them next season if things don’t work out in the transfer market. On holiday last year, I saw parts of the game when they played Southampton in the league cup and they looked totally outclassed. Whether that’s just one game against that level?
Some fans are fickle and will easily back off going to games if they witness regular 3-0, 4-0 losses.

I was at that Southampton game and Southend were poor. I was also at the Forest game and they were outstanding. The only two Southend games I've seen this season and one was [****!!****], the other fantastic.

 

Personally I think they'll be able to hold there own in Division One next season. I think they'll stay up (unlike Colchester) and finish somehwere between tenth and fifteenth.

 

Well, I hope so anyway, 'cause unlike a lot of you, I don't hate Southend.

Yes. I do see your point, but I think they've learnt a lot from this campaign and will be more than prepared to compete next season, as long as they spend correctly.

The thing with the Southampton game was that it was right at the beginning of the season, and to be fair, the team obviously didn't know just what they could achieve in the division and by winning it yesterday after such a long time at the top, I think it stands them in good stead for next year.
