Tonight thank God it's them instead of you.....................

Having just had a look at the Canvey fans forum, where they candidly accept that they will be resigning from the Conference and will be hoping to pick up the pieces some 3 divisions lower in time for next season, for some reason Bono's words suddenly seemed significant. So tonight WVN , RR , CG, and all others of a like mind, put your criticisms into perspective and thank God it isn't G&NFC in this position.

I have to say I was impressed by the manner in which a number of their supporters were tackling the very many technical, legal, and financial headaches that confront them. Oh, and all this with Jeff King remaining the Club's landlord! Makes all of WVNs gripes etc look petty in the extreme.

All of this screams one thing at us all. Put aside our complaints etc and back our Club, while we still have a Club in the top flight of non-league football. Afterall, tonight where would you really rather be, an established Conference side or in the Ryman First Division if we were lucky?

I think Canvey were lucky to live their dream for the time they had here, and a good fight they made of it too. A bit reminiscent of us whilst we were p/t - except we based ourselves on a solid board with financial acumen, whilst they were bankrolled by one rich bloke.

We all know that invariably ends in tears, look at Hornchurch, Rushden for fine examples, now Canvey.

I am thankful that we have a good board to keep on track, but I still harbour fears that the on-field results under this present regime will cause difficulties to the board they could do wiithout, especially as the new ground builds is starting to pick up spped.

Sad as though it may be about Canvey Island, I have to say what is happening is hardly a surprize. Non~league football is littered with similar situations over the years.

But my concerns relate to the 'Fleet. My comments are not petty, certainly not in my and numerous others opinions. The reason I express my comments as I do, is because of my concerns about the current state of things at Stonebridge Road, particularly relating to the playing side and the manager.

Of course I do not want the 'Fleet to be the next Canvey Island, but unless things improve then in a season or two we could be looking into the same abyss as they are?

WVN you are getting VERY VERY boring.

Change the record.

My post was in response to an earlier post from kmj.

I have to admit, I'm getting pretty bored with repeating the same message time after time. By now you would think that anyone that is interested in what is going on at Stonebridge Road and is bothered to participate on this forum, would know my position and where I am coming from.

That said, if you think that being concerned about recent events at Stonebridge Road and as such expressing those concerns is boring...then tough!

Don't bother to read them.

W.V.N I object to the way in which you appear to use almost every post to put forward a negative slant.

I'm sure you mean well and have the interests of the club at heart

BUT

If you cant put forward a balanced argument then don't bother!

For example, I dont like an awful lot of what C.G has to say but at least he tries to see both sides of the argument.

And as for not reading your posts, I try not to but I seem to get some sort of Sado-masochistic pleasure out of seeing how you can turn a perfectly sensible post into a rant against Daish!

You dont by any chance stand near to the old Tea Hut when you actually do go to a game do you?

Thanks, Andy, much appreciated. I DO try to see both sides of an arguement. Sometimes, it is a bit difficult.

Hannah You are soooooo right it is boring!

I have a long fuse and it takes a long time for me to get wound up by something but WVN has achieved it!

But the guy is a complete pillock and its about time he was made to realise that fact.

Never ever thought I would get CG and me agreeing on the same post but sometimes miracles happen!

Get a life WVN and enjoy the close season! We can worry about the future in a few weeks time, lets just enjoy the fact we are still in the Conference, punching above our weight and occasionally springing a few surprises!

It's been confirmed on BBC Radio Essex that Jeff King is now Chelmsford manager. But he won't be putting in any money apparently, according to Canvey's forum.
