The pencil test

Recommended Posts

The drawing of pencils strikes me as a far better solution than giving everyone the vote, chaps. Few of those enfranchised have the level of intelligence necessary to consider the casting of a vote - most of 'em should be sterilised at birth, too. Everyone gets the vote and look what happened last time - the lunatic in Number 10.

Other than in the constituency of Falmouth & Camborne wher the delectable Julia Goldsworthy probably won 100% of the votes cast, I think that the drawing of straws or pencils by the respective candidates is worth a try next time around.

This particularly applies to the quaint picturesque village of Wheathampstead, eh Laz?

Indeed it does, Robster.

I was surprised at the low number of votes for the Labour party. Eightyish I believe.

The estate up the road is stacked with potential labour voters: single mums, unemployed, illegals, etc, etc.

Perhaps the just couldn't be bothered to vote!

Do try to keep up, JKiF.

It's the biros that are the same size, not the pencils.

Oh, by the way. I assumed that the winner drew the longest pencil, not the thickest. It's probably under consideration at an emergency session of the European Court or even the United Nations.

Perhaps they did the 'best of three' twice, once for the thickest, and once for the longest.

Just as an aside, AFF, I'll tell you a little story that I found amusing.

When the inventor the ball-point pen, Laszlo Biro, died, his obituary in the Times stated that he lived his life "con brio" which as you know is Italian for 'with vigour'.

Some wag wrote in the following day saying shouldn't that have read "con biro".

Well it made me smile. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
