without sponsors you wont have a club to pay a season ticket for.

these people don’t just walk in the door they need to be contacted and hassled. this surely has to be the priority. we need an income that is greater than our outcome to survive. if we can cover running costs through sponsorship then gate receipts and season tickets can be put in to improve the club and help us rise. it is simple marketing. now days football clubs are as much about business as they are the football and we have to make sure the business of the club is run correctly so this situation can never happen again. if you think Jeffs decision to pull his money is right or wrong is irrelevant, it has screwed the club because it wasn’t a successful business.

I will be relaying the information coming out of the ongoing situation to the best of my ability. It is important that the people entrusted to get the Ltd in motion are left to concentrate on that. I have, and will continue to, be a middle man to ensure that our views are expressed to the Directors and vice versa.

This isn't to say that they are going to be detached from the supporters, anything but. But I'm sure you can see that while things are still up in the air that they are allowed to get their heads down.

As far as I am aware, there are or were not any sponsorshop deals that were arranged for more than one season. This idea was ours and not Jeff's, so it is not a way of not honouring a deal.

The current Canvey Island Football Club Ltd is being left completely debt, PAYE, and tax free. As long as this is the case, the FA Registration can be transferred from one Ltd to the other fairly smoothly.

Plans are being put in place to arrange Sponsorship Packs to outline the different areas of sponsorship that will be available. These will be professionally designed to make the proposal look as attractive as possible.

maybe £7 entrance but that includes a programme?

That sounds good

Adults - 7 + programme
Concessions - 5 + programme (?)
U16s - 1 + 1 extra for a programme

I suppose the problem is that you don't know how many to get printed because your not going to know how many people will go through the turnstiles - suppose you have to weigh up how much it will cost to generate a realistic number of programmes. You can't afford to go short of programmes on match day.

How about extending the tickets to a family ticket like Gravesend. Although we can't generate season tickets at the moment any scheme to get money in before a ball is kicked has got to benefit cashflow and the club.

Glenn, you are doing a sterling job and your head must be buzzing at the moment!

Are we able to start organising friendlies and do these raise money? or are costs soaked up by organising and paying back the other teams. (Southend would be good!)

If Jeff has made a one off payment for the rent - would he give us a years breathing space - a loan? this would ease initial cashflow - or do we have to start paying straight away?

I believe for friendlies most teams at our level just require the hosting Club to pay the opposition's travel expenses.

I don't know who would be able to answer this question but, what happens to any money generated by third parties hiring out the facilities at Park Lane for functions etc? Do the Club get a cut of the profits or does it all go straight to Jeff as he's the Landlord?

i presume all money currently being made from the official website is going into Jeff's Pocket?

Any ideas Glen?

To be honest, I do not know. If it is be undertaken by us then it will have to pay into our Ltd company, otherwise we have no reason to maintain it.

Canvey set to confirm resignation

Canvey Island are set to confirm their resignation from the Conference in the next week, reports BBC Essex.

The Gulls were stunned in April when manager and major backer Jeff King said he would withdraw his investment.

After a meeting on Thursday to discuss the future of the club, reserve team coach John Batch was appointed manager and a limited company has been set-up.

"Dreams of staying in the Conference have to be forgotten about," supporters liaison officer Glenn Eckitt said.

"The majority of next season's team will be made up of our title-winning reserve side. It would be unfair to go into a league where we can't compete."

If Canvey do withdraw, it could mean a reprieve for Tamworth, who finished second-bottom in the Conference and are set to drop into the Conference South.

Scarborough the other relegated club are awaiting the outcome of an appeal against an 18-point penalty for fielding an ineligible player.

Eckitt added: "We now have to apply to the FA and our preferred route would be step eight which is the Southern League East or Ryman Division One.

"That's what we'd like but obviously it's down to the FA.

"If we could get into the Southern League East that would bring back derbies with Aveley, Hornchurch and other Essex clubs but I have to stress it isn't our decision."

If Canvey do resign from the Conference, they have to confirm the situation by 13 May.

so have we had to ask Jeff permission to set up a limited company?? Now the announcement is in the public domain i presume he has agreed a limited company is the best way forward..

We don't need his permission (I know that is contradictory as we didn't need permission for a Trust either.) The way we see this, and I'm sure Jeff will, is that this enables us to allow Canvey fans to run the club soley, and allow him to concentrate on Chelmsford. He wants to ensure the club is being left in the right hands, and a structured limited company provides this assurance.

i dont like the idea of moving to another ground nor do i like the idea of having to rely on Jeff. but while he is only a landlord he has absolutly no say in the club or how it is run. as long as he signs a contract (and if he loves the club as much as he says he will) then we just have to pay him a fair price and never hear from him again, until he runs chelmsford into the ground

what ever happened to him renting it to the fans for £1. was that just speculation and internet rubbish

at the end of the day, lets just say thanks but no thanks to the ground and find another one we can use, either jeff is going to be 100% into Canvey or 100% Chelmsford he cannot be both. JEFF be the big man that you are and tell us if you intend to join another club or not.

How much would you be prepared to pay to rent a ground, it wouldn`t be cheap and most deals involve the host club keeping all the profit from the bar.

Did we have enough cash to buy a 10 year lease if Jeff hadn`t? i don`t think so.

Jeff King has joined Chelmsford, do you need him to personally phone you with all the details
