Congratulations to everyone envolved in the local election campaign, especially the candidates, what a fantastic result for the trust. l think the S.T.S.T. has grown in strength over the past year and these results are the icing on the cake.

The trusts strength lie's in it's members so well done to everyone.

I think all involved in the local elections should be proud of themselves. You certainly got your point across. Well done for beating the Tories too. Having seen my Borough (a former mining town) turn from NOC to blue overnight it gives hope to everyone. The fact that you collectively polled way more than your average gate must be comforting.

Looking forward to the STFC £££ at York Road next season, as predicted by me a year ago!

To be honest - I am amazed at how well we did and I am delighted - to collect seven hundred and fifty votes off the back of one leaflet drop and some press coverage is amazing. We beat the Tories with their national campaign into fourth place in Wexham. I agree that if we do this again we should register as a party so we can have more than independent on the ballot.

I think the campaign has achieved exactly what it set out to - the people of Slough know more about our aim and plight thanks to the press coverage and the leaflet and we have rattled the councillors. Many produced follow up leaflets with refence to the club and the ten of us at the count last night were approached by councillors from all parties who wanted to talk about the club. That is hugely positive because the votes had been cast and there was nothing to gain from sweet talking us. Let's see what happens now and take it from there.

In addition I think we should do a secondary leaflet drop later in the summer once the new fixture list is announced. We can then inform the people of what's happening, where we play and when and encourage them to show support to the club and its plight by actually coming through the turnstiles. So long as we have willing volunteers to go delivering we now know from experience it has some effect.

I concur with Martin. The campaign was noticed by the other candidates, one of whom (a sitting councillor) told me that he had previously just accepted what Stokes had said. No one conversation will change things, but we clearly got a message across, and previously disinterested councillors were starting to take notice.

Can I congratulate everyone on the election success. Actually what constitutes real success will be to change minds of councillors. Don't let the grass grow- get in to see them and keep nagging away. Remind the councillors who put in their leaflets that they actually support the aims of STFC that they will be expected to help deliver the goods. Find out who is up for election next year and have a chat with them too- nice early warning to make them feel a tad wary and keen not to have opposition- maybe in Wexham but who knows.

The idea of registering as a political party is a great one because in your chats with the councillors you can drop in the fact that you are doing this!

Drop them an email and ask for a meeting individually at the council office if they want. Just don't let go! And good luck.
