Oi! Rob!! Supporters Club AGM?

AFF

Recommended Posts

Democracy in action - maybe the supporters club should try it:

Wheathampstead

PATRICK Gillian Kathryn Green Party 115

SHARDLOW Judith Claire Lib Dem 1131* GAIN FROM CON

STAMMERS Keith Conservative 1131

WOODHAMS Peter Leslie Labour 94

* After three re-counts, the candidates drew pencils to decide the winner.

By the way, is it all ticket on Sunday?

No GHA. Two from the clubhouse and one from Mrs Lipp.

In the clubhouse "Oi! Rob! Are you selling those raffle tickets or counting them? Please Rob. Please sell me two. No Rob. Two strips, not two tickets. What's the first prize Rob? What do you mean, 'you don't know?'"

In the ground, there's no discussion. "Spare me Mrs Lipp. Here's a pound, and please encourage the other half to stick to 4-4-2."

The drawing of pencils strikes me as a far better solution than giving everyone the vote, mdet. Few of those enfranchised have the level of intelligence necessary to consider the casting of a vote - most of 'em should be sterilised at birth, too. Everyone gets the vote and look what happened last time - the lunatic in Number 10.

Other than in the constituency of Falmouth & Camborne wher the delectable Julia Goldsworthy probably won 100% of the votes cast, I think that the drawing of straws or pencils by the respective candidates is worth a try next time around.

That'd be why you get white, green, orange, light blue, dark blue and yellow ones every week, AFF..?

That's be why you buy six separate strips (each a different colour) every week, AFF..?

GHA, AFF didn't get where he is today by not recognizing an 'opportunity' when he sees one. He knows that each raffle prize is drawn from a different colour ticket so by buying four strips of different colours he has four chances of winning instead of only one if he had bought four strips of the same colour.

Ah, but if he'd bought all of the same colour, it would actually increase his chance of winning something.

If you have one ticket out of 100, you have a 1% chance of winning. Do that with four different colours, and you still only have a 1% chance of winning. You just have four 1% chances, that's all.

However, if you buy four tickets out of 100, you suddenly have a 4% chance of winning, thereby making it more likely to win if you stick to the one colour.

I'll tell you one more thing, Zealster.

Go into your bank at lunchtime to deposit 1130 tenners. Tell 'em that you'll draw pencils for the total amount 1130, 1131 or 1132 and see what happens.

Where were we? Who is standing for membership of the Supporters Club Committee for next season?

Crawley had it as well but that was envelopes whith "congratulations you are a winner" and "sorry better luck next time".

AFF - I agree, only those of a certain standing should be allowed to vote. I assume you will be there on Sunday? I can make the trip now that the push for the premiership has finished.

Well I don't have a ticket mdet, but I hope to pick one up from the touts at Broadhill Way on Sunday.

With a bit of luck, Fat Stan Flashman and his accolytes will have over-estimated demand when they bought all available tickets from t'Park and Histon this week and they'll be pleased to unload a couple of the 7000 in their possession at less than face value.

Bring it on.
